The next morning, Gianna and I were already walking into math. Our other classes breezed by, or at least I wasn't paying attention in them.
Harmswell was standing outside his door. He glared at us as we walked into his room.
"What's his deal?" Gianna grumbled.
"Maybe when he was younger he had a math teacher that glared at little girls as they walked into class and he saw him and was like,'I wanna be him when I grow up.' And then God up in heaven was like,'Amen'. And here we are," I joke.
Gianna laughed and so did someone behind us. Gianna and I both turned around and saw Zane, Cace, and Rocky laughing.
Gianna grinned at me as we went to sit down.
Zane and Cace came over to sit next to us. Gianna straightened up and fixed her hair. She turned to talk to Cace about..... Something.
Zane turned towards me. He smiled.
"You wanna play a game?," he asks.
"What?"
"You wanna play a game?"
"Um, ok."
"Ok, the game's called Flinch."
"How do you play?"
"Basically you gotta figure out a way to make the other person flinch."
"Ok then. I'll go first."
I lift up my hand, like I'm about to slap him. Zane stays statue-still.
Ok then.
I lift up my fist like I'm gonna punch him. He stays still.
Hmmm....
I pull back my leg and act like I'm gonna kick him.
He. Still. Doesn't. Freaking. Move.
He grins. "My turn."
He grabs my hand. Reflexes kick in and my arm reacts. Then it relaxes.
"That was easier than I thought," Zane smirks.
"What?"
"Getting you to hold my hand."
I blush red, and pull my hand away.
"Bum." I'm still blushing.
"Whatever you say."
He grins at me stupidly, his eyes bright and laughing. He looks at me expectantly.
"Fine."
I slip my hand back into his and feel my face heat up.
Since when do you blush when it comes to Zane?
