Chapter 15

I was going to miss the beginning of Kirk's trail because I had an appointment with Dr Burgos. I tried to reschedule, but she was fully booked for the next two weeks, so I kept my time the same. My mom was tagging along with me so I wouldn't have to go alone. Kirk left with Delia and Jalen, I was sitting outside waiting for my mom to show up. I looked down at my phone to see the time, it was four minutes of ten, my appionment was in twenty minutes.

"Where the hell are you mom?!" I said to myslef. "Yeah, I know, she's always late." I looked down at my stomach. It was weird, even though she wasn't here, I still talked to her like she was. To me, it was like mother daughter bonding time.

Finally, my mom pulled into the drive way, and honked her horn three times. I hopped in the front seat relieved that she was here, I wanted to get done at the doctors ASAP so I could get to the courts and see Kirk.

"I'm sorry I'm so late." She said as I closed the car door. "I was busy watching the news.."

"It's fine." I smiled at her, buckling myself in.

"So I'm guessing you didn't hear about it?" She started to back out of the driveway.

"About what?"

"Braxton."

"No.." I shook my head. "What happened?"

"The cops found him nearly beaten to death in his apartment a few days ago. He's just getting out of the hospital today. He'll be at court."

"Are you serious?!" I gasped. "Who would do-" I paused.

"What?"

"Nothing.." I lied. "That's just crazy."

"They think Kirk had something to do with it you know.." My mom said.

"But he didn't! He hasn't left the house, seriously." I rolled my eyes. "He wouldn't do something like that."

"I know he wouldn't Lex.. I called Lisa to ask what happened, and got no answer."

"Really?" I rose an eyebrow. "That's weird."

"It went right to voicemail actually. That's not like her."

"I think she did it." I confessed.

"She wouldn't do that!" My mom chuckled. "Be serious."

"I am serious Mom, why would I joke about that?" She gave me a funny look. "I went to her house yesterday and we had a heart to heart... Braxton treats her the same way he treated me. She kept saying she wanted to get away.. I think she tried to kill him."

"You think she's really do that?!"

"Yeah! It crossed my mind too when I was with him, I won't lie."

"Where do you think she is now?"

"She might be with her mom, or ran off somewhere to hide, I really don't know."

"I feel so bad.. but they shouldn't pin this on Kirk, I'm sure they'll clear his name by tonight."

"They better!" I sighed. "All this is happening too fast." I mumbled.

"I know Lexus.. I know."

We rushed inside to the doctors office, I made it just in time. We sat in the waiting room for Dr Burgos to come out. My little girl was moving around like crazy, kicking, punching, head butting. She seemed agitated, either that or a sugar rush. My mom put her hand right above my navel, feeling her kicks.

"Have you thought more about names?" She asked, a huge smile on her face.

"Yeah, a little bit." I smiled. "I'm starting to like the name Gianna."
