CHAPTER TEN// BURNT MARSHMALLOWS

We walked down the previous hallway, but this time, entered through a locked door, which lead to a beautiful garage, with even more beautiful vehicles. He clicked a button on his keys, and a beep sounded. He led me over to his car. He pulled open the passenger door of a BMW . He helped me into the car before sliding into the driver's seat. The leather felt smooth under my skin. He injected the key and pushed the ignition button on, causing the car to purr to life. He opened the garage, and it opened silently as he opened the gate and we rolled onto the street.

"So are you going to tell me what the surprise is?" I asked, crossing my legs.

"Nope. You'll just have to guess," he said, glancing at me.

"But I suck at guessing."

"Well that sounds like a you-problem," he teased.

I stuck my tongue out as I raked my brain for what the surprise could possibly be. "Cartwheel race?"

"You still remember those?" he asked, sounding surprised.

"Of course I do. Those were some of the best memories."

He nodded, glancing over at me.

"So is that it?"

"Nope," he answered, popping the p.

I groaned. "Well that was my only good guess."

"Well we're here anyway," he replied, smirking at me.

He swiftly parked the car, quickly shutting off the car to beat me to helping me out of the car.

"Thank you, kindest gentleman."

"You are welcome, loveliest lady."

He held his hand out, and I took it. "So where are we going?"

"It's at the end of the corner."

I squinted to the end of the block, and that's when I saw it.

"Ice cream!" Grayson chuckled at my reaction.

"You guessed it."

A smile spread over my face, and I dragged him through the stragglers to the entrance of the store. It was relatively empty. I quickly scanned the menu to make sure my favorite flavor was there.

"I know what I want."

"I think I know, too."

We looked to each other, a smile spreading onto our faces. "Straciatella" We both laugh before ordering two scoops in a waffle cone. The server quickly tended to us, handing us our ice creams and we headed outside and sat at a table. I love Nutella gelato so much.

I licked a spot that was dripping and sighed and the amazing chocolatey taste. "I've missed this so much."

"I couldn't imagine life without Straciatella."

"Trust me, it's terrible," I laugh.

"I believe it," he answers, licking his lips. "Anyway, when's the photo shoot?"

"It's on Thursday," I answered. "It might take a while." Today was Tuesday, and I came up early for two reasons. One, I couldn't stand the tension anymore between Jaq and I, and secondly, I was curious.
