CHAPTER ONE// SURPRISE!

I step out of the airplane and into the airport, surrounded by all the other passengers. I head down to the baggage claim, following the crowd, and ready to head to my sister's house.

"Willow," I hear a familiar voice call.

I whip my head in the direction of the voice, and a huge smile plays across my face. I turn towards the voice and run to my little sister, Jaq

"Jaq! Oh my God, I've missed you so much," I say, hugging her tight, dropping my carry-on next to me.

"Me too! Once a year isn't enough, especially if it's me going over there! It's about dang time that you got your booty over here," she says, laughing. Her blonde hair is cut short, just below her shoulder, and her eyes gleam with happiness.

"I know, I know. But you know how busy I've been!" I say, releasing her from my grip.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's get your stuff so we can head home. I'm starving!"

"And to think that I'm the one who just flew eighteen hours," I say, shaking my head as I picked my carry-on back up.

"You know me! Always hungry!"

We head over to the conveyor belt, and I pull my bags off as soon as I see them.

"Gesh woman! How many bags did you pack?"

"I'm staying for six weeks! Of course I packed two bags!"

Jaq sighs. "C'mon, let's get to the car."

We take the long walkway and step through the door and into the parking lot, searching for Jaq's car.

"I see that you've upgraded," I say, checking out her new 7 series BMW.

"Yup, being a doctor really pays off," she says, winking at me.

I laugh. "So does being an international renowned super model," I say, smirking.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just get in the car," she says, slapping me playfully across the arm.

She helps me load my bags into the car, and we get in.

"Nice taste, li'l sis."

"Only the best."

She reverses out of the parking space, and she heads out of the parking garage. When the sun hits the car, I look around at the Frankfurt International Airport. Today it's sunny, and I get a good view of the place that I've grown to miss.

I sigh. "I've missed it so much."

"I know I would, too."

I turn up the radio, and I listen closely. Cro's song, Dream, is playing. But in German. I listen closely, and hear a difference during the rap part.

"It's weird hearing it in German when I'm so used to the English version."

"Well this is the cooler version," Jaq says, singing along.

"Definitely."

Jaq pulls onto A5, and it raises my anticipation.

I squeal. "You have no clue how excited I am! I've been looking forward to this all year!"

Jaq laughs. "I would too if I only got less than 1 month of vacation a year!"

"Well it's different in the U.S. There, some people only get 10 days. 10 days! That's so crazy!"

"I have no clue how you do it," Jaq says, shaking her head.

"It's all this," I say, gesturing towards myself.

"Hah, as if!"

"It's what I'm paid for," I say in a sing-song voice. Jaq just rolls her eyes. "But I get some breaks in between, but I don't think it's enough time to spend here," I say, lying slightly. I just didn't have the balls to visit after everything.

"So what're we doing tomorrow?" I ask, bouncing in my seat.

"God, already ready for a full-packed day! You're probably gonna be smoked from the jet lag."

"As if. I'm so used to it by now, I can conquer any time zone!"

"If it makes you sleep at night," Jaq mutters.

"It will," I say smirking.

"So are you gonna visit some of your old friends?"

"Of course! Social media can be so helpful."

"Yeah, I guess so."

I listened to the radio again, singing along to the songs, English and German.

My eyes flutter open. We were currently exiting off highway A7, which we must have transitioned on to. We were on the round-a-bout that leads right into Kassel, my hometown.

I squeal. "We're almost there!"

Jaq laughs. "Keep your panties on."

I roll my eyes, and look around eagerly. We exit the round-a-bout, and Jaq turns right, heading straight towards the city. We drive by the suburb, and drive along the highway road that leads right to the heart of the city.

She drives along the road, through another roundabout and turns a street.

She pulls into a small parking lot, and parks her car.

"Nice looking place," I say, looking up at the building.

"Thanks. Hard work pays off."

Don't I know it.

We exit the car, and I grab a bag, Jaq helping me with the other. I sling my purse over one shoulder, and put my carry-on on top of the suitcase rolling it to the door. Jaq inserts her key, and we step into the apartment building. She lives on the first floor, so luckily I don't have to drag my suitcase up the stairs. We walk down the hall, and she opens her door with another key.

Her apartment is dark, except for the light shining through from the open curtains. She flicks on the lights, and her apartment is revealed. My hands fly to my mouth, shocked.

"Surprise!"

But that isn't the only thing that surprises me.
