Chapter 18 - I'm not an alpha

After Jessica left I went back to my dad's office feeling much apprehension, as I know what our conversation was going to be about.

"Father." I said on a sigh, as I leaned in the door frame.

"Alexander,I didn't realise you were coming to see me." He said sounding slightly surprised but hiding it well.

"Well you did want to talk to me earlier," I said in a matter of fact tone as I made my way over to one of the couches in the room.

"Yes, yes."

"Though before I get into any of that there's something we need to talk about. I am the alpha of this pack and you are my son and you can't take this pack for granted by sleeping around with the girls in the pack ending with Jessica this afternoon. When ,might I add, both of you should have been in school."

Jessica is not like that." I responded through clenched teeth at the fact that he thought I was using Jessica as some sort of booty call.

But could you blame him though that's all I've done for the past few years.

Sleep around. Get drunk and get high.

"Then please tell me 'what it's like' " he replied sounding quite sarcastic.

I know Jessica didn't want us to be a public thing but God he was so infuriating.

"Alex " he began on a sigh, "your mother wouldn't have wanted this for you. She would want you to settle down and find a mate. Sleeping around is not encouraged by unmated wolves."

"I told you we didn't sleep together." I replied through gritted teeth.

"I don't know why you insist on sleeping around like this, why can't you find a nice girl like Britney to settle down with until you find your mate. It's obvious your mate isn't in this pack because you've been of age for almost a year now and you haven't found her so maybe you should just settle down for a while. The moon goddess will lead you to her eventually but for now just wait."

By the time he finished his little speech I was seething.

"I don't want anything to do with Britney anymore dad."

"Your mom wouldn't want this life for you_"

I cut him off before he could say anything else.

"Don't you don't get to tell me about my mom because I know exactly what it is that she wants."

"You need to settle down Alex. I need to retire to take care of your mother and you need to step up to the title that you were born for."

"I can take care of my mother just fine. You never cared before no reason to care now. And you know what dad just fuck off." I was breathing heavy by the time I got to the door.

"That is no way to talk to your alpha." He shouted his alpha power bleeding out of his voice.

"Don't you dare use your alpha voice on me." I shouted back feeling disdain towards him suddenly. " I'm your son dad that doesn't work on me" I said my voice softening slightly.

I was so disappointed in him. My dad and I used to have a great relationship and since mom's illness he's just been all about work and barely been making weekly visits to her. It sort of made me resentment him recently and its partially why I don't want to be alpha.

I never want to be so caught up in work that I lose who I am or that I don't have time for Jessica. I don't ever want that to happen to me.

I sighed as I slammed the front door choosing to go for a run.
