After the lunch I decided I'd visit the mall I saw on my way to the push house and do some shopping. It would be nice to get some new clothes for school. Also, the alpha told us that there would be a welcome back hey together for us this Friday at the pack house and today was Sunday so I decided that it would be prudent to just pick up an outfit for the party while shopping for new school clothes.

"Mom." I called from the bottom of the stairs, wondering where she was.

I let my nose lead me to the delicious smell coming from the kitchen and lo and behold that's where I found her, clad in mittens, bent over pulling something out of the oven.

What a surprise. The kitchen was always one of my moms favourite places to be, especially on a Sunday afternoon.

"Hey Jessica. Wassup?" She questioned, resting a tray of what I now recognized to be lasagna on the counter.

"I'm gonna go pick up some things for school. Can I take your car?" I asked picking up the keys from the counter.

"That's not necessary. Jake's car was shipped over a few hours ago why don't you just go with him?" She asked turning back to the oven where I presume that awesome smell was coming from. I wonder what else she had cooking in there.

"Mom guys don't like shopping." I informed her in a matter-of-fact tone.

If I go with Jake all he's gonna do is rush me and possibly drive away if I take too long to get back. And for Jake and hour was way too long for shopping.

He obviously doesn't understand that finding the right skirt, jeans, top or whatever is an careful and intricate process.

The clothing item needs to bond with your soul.

It takes time to find 'the one'.

"Do not stereotype my son. I'm sure he has something he can find at the mall."

I knew sending me with Jake was her way of having me supervised but I dismissed the revelation. I knew I was a trouble maker but I was hardly a bad kid.

"I'm gonna need some cash though." I declared rubbing my fingers in the universal sign for money.

"I sent your allowance to your debit card  last week."

"Mom you can't expect me to pay for this from my allowance..." I whined.

We were hardly spoiled kids but my parents thought that allowing us to have our own cash in the form of am allowance would teach us a thing or two about responsibility. So it wasn't everything that we wanted they would actually pay for, sometimes they made us use our own savings to pay for 'unnecessary items' such as video games or nail polish, so that we could prioritize our needs over our wants.

But right now I wasn't looking for a lesson in adult responsibility I just wanted enough cash to buy myself something nice without the added stress of depleting my piggy bank.

She gave me a stern look "I'll give you fifty dollars. Okay?"

"Sure. Thanks." I replied with a cheeky smile of triumph.

That was easier than I thought it would be.

She handed me the money and I walked out all smiles.

"Jake! Jake!" I screamed from the foot of the stairs.

"What?" He said after surfacing looking grumpy.

I probably woke him from an early evening nap.

Tough crackers. He was my ride.
