21. Trouble at the party

While we're all preparing stuff for the birthdayparty I hear a knock on the door. Bruno opens it and I hear someone screaming. Of course I immediately regonize that voice, it's my mom's voice, undoubtedly.

"Oh my god, you're Bruno Mars, aren't you? Am I right here? Is my daughter Joy here?" I hear her saying.

Bruno: "Yes, Ms. Adams" Bruno answers and I can imagine the smile on his face so easily.

Mother: "Why do you know my name?" she asks confused.

'It's time to tell her about us, me and Bruno' I say to myself and start running up to her.

Joy: "MOM!" I scream and wrap my arms around her.

Mother: "Joy, oh god I missed you so much! Happy birthday, darling" She says, still hugging me and near to tears.

Joy: "I missed you too! And thanks, mom" I whisper and look into her eyes. "Let me introduce you to some people, okay?"

She just nodds, probably because she's not sure whether she's able to talk or not.

Caro: "Aww, Ms. Adams, you're always so emotional! Nice to see you again!" Caro says and hugs her.

Mother: "Good to see you again, Caro" my mom mumbles and wipes a tear away. When she looks up again, her and Bruno's eyes meet.

Joy: "Uhm mom this is..." I begin to say.

Mother: "I know who he is! This is Bruno Mars! What is he doing here?" Seems like she hasn't watched tv lately..

Joy: "Oh, that's a really long and complicated story... I will tell you later but uhmm, remember when I told you about my new boyfriend? Well, it's Bruno" I say almost a bit shyly and look at him. He smiles and grabs my hand. My mom doesn't say a word and for a moment I think she she'll faint but she pulls herself together and smiles.

"That's... unbelievable! Congrats you two!" she says. She still looks a bit shocked but I know she's happy for me, she always is. She's the best mom in the world, I love her so much and I'm so glad she's celebrating my birthday with me. I really missed her, I was just too busy to even think about my friends and family at home and be upset.

While I introduce my mom to the rest, more and more guest come in. Even 3 of friends of mine, Ann, Molly and Katie, came over. I guess Caro invited them, she really knows how to make me happy. Everyone freaked out when they noticed Bruno and especially when I told them we were a couple. They're all shocked but happy for us, just like my mom. Now that I have everyone that's important to me (except my dad) around me, I realize how lucky I am. I have amazing friends, an amazing family and a boyfriend that is simply perfect to me. My life is awesome at the moment, I feel so blessed!

For a long time I talk to my friends who inform me about what's going on at home but it all seems unimportant and not interesting anymore when I see a celebrity walking in.

Caro: "Oh. My. God." Caro whispers. "Is that ... is that Rihanna?"

Joy: "Hell yes, she is!" I almost scream. Bruno didn't tell me who'd come today and I'd have never thought about Rihanna!

She greets Bruno, Ryan and Dani. I see Bruno pointing into my direction and she nodds and walks up to me.

Riri: "Hi Joy, I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday" she says with a huge smile on her face.

Joy: "Oh,er.. Thank you so much! And.. thanks for coming!" Oh god, I'm so awkward..

Riri: "No problem,girl. I love celebrating with friends! Thanks for inviting me, Bruno said you didn't want a lot of people to come over but I really hope you're happy I'm here. Here's a little present" She hands me a silver button with a description saying "you better treat me like a queen today" in diamond letters. It looks awesome!
