"(f/n), we need to talk for a second."

You gave him a confused look as you put the plate you had been washing back down into the sink. You hadn't thought that there had been anything wrong, but his tone suggested there was.

But thinking about it, he was unusually quiet all through breakfast.

"What is it?" You asked, "I haven't done anything, have I?"

"No," He shook his head, "But, I'm afraid I can no longer allow you to sleep in the guest room anymore," He said bluntly, leaning against the counter, hands in his pockets as usual.

"Eh?" You gave a small frown, "What's that supposed to mean?"

He looked you dead in the eye and said, "I want you to move into my room with me."

Your heart skipped a beat.

He wants me to what...?!

"So soon?" You asked, "But..."

"It's fine if you don't want to, yet," He assured you, "But, I want you to consider it at least."

"It's not that," You shook your head, "I just wasn't quite expecting it, that's all. It seems somewhat like a big step."

"I suppose it is," He agreed, "But, I think we should."

You gave a silent nod, face feeling flushed and heart racing. You understood where he was coming from, sort of. It seemed like the appropriate step to take after the past couple of nights. Sleeping next to each other was comfortable, and even if you found yourself wrapped up in his arms and legs tangled together, you were fine with that.

Deep down, a little flame had been lit sometime within these past couple weeks. A small, burning desire had sparked, the desire to be with him, the desire to be there for him, the desire to be his, his and only his. Whether you knew it or not, the match had been struck and a candle light began to glow, and maybe, as time goes on, the fire may spread, grow, and turn into a roaring flame, that which rivals those of forest fires.

This kindling flame was your love for him. It was something that, as everyone else had said you had to do, you were learning to do. Being paired up with someone that was the equivalent of being a stranger towards you was no walk in the park, but slowly but surely you were becoming more comfortable around him. You were learning new things about him, picking up on small things and habits of his. You were learning to accept your situation and adapt to it. It was a step by step process, but Kakashi seemed willing to take each step with you, willing to walk at your pace, side by side with you the whole way.

"Okay."

*****

"Hey, Kakashi," Guy greeted as Kakashi walked into the break room.

Kakashi pulled out a chair and sat down, sighing. It had been a long day. Yet another two weeks had flown by since you moved rooms, but it seemed like only a little progress was made in your relationship. Nothing else had progressed since. You couldn't say you were dissatisfied, but things seemed to be almost a bit too slow.

He was especially tired today. He spent his entire planning period grading papers and his classes just droned on and on. The lessons today weren't that interesting, and it was something he's taught dozens of times before. The entire time he was just anxious to get home for the weekend, looking forward to seeing you. The fact that he would be reunited with you after the school day ends was the only thing currently driving him to make it through the day.
