~Adrianna's P.O.V~

'What happened?' my voice quivered as I asked Kai but I didn't notice.

Although my mind was fuzzy I could see that Kai was hesitating.

'Did I kill him?' I asked in disbelief

Quickly he shook his head. Searching for words he scanned the forest being the school for awhile. I was about to ask again when he turned towards me and held out his left wrist. I looked down and saw a shape of a flame 'engraved' onto his skin. Instinctively I touched my own birthmark.

'It's a birthmark. Like yours but just a different symbol.'

His birthmark was more an orange-ish color in contrast from my blue-ish colored birthmark. It resembled a burning wild fire. I gasped, shocked. What? I thought I was the only one having such a beautiful birthmark. Does it mean anything? What if we aren't normal..? The thoughts filled my brain with possible explanations and questions. Until suddenly Kai got me back to the present by saying something I couldn't hear.

'What did you say?' I asked him and looked at his light blue eyes that reminded me of the sky.

'Your eyes, your hair. They have changed color.'  He said with a worried yet surprised and confused look.

I looked down at my hair and the auburn color had changed to a light blonde color that leaned into white more than blonde. Fumbling with my phone I opened the camera app and looked at my eyes. The ocean blue color was so dominant that one could never think that I originally had hazel eyes. I dropped my phone in surprise. What the..? How did this happen?  I couldn't think anymore, everything was so confusing that I suddenly felt very dizzy and the last thing I could remember was Kai's scared face when he saw me hit the ground without any type of warning. Until everything turned black..

I woke up in a white room. Beside me stood a nurse looking at the monitor and writing stuff down on her notepad about one meter from me. She looked at me and smiled warmly while putting her notepad down.

'Oh, are you awake?'

'Um.. eh yeah' I answered in a low, raspy voice. My throat burned because of the lack of water. I really need water..

'Here you go' She said and gave me a glass of water as if she just read my mind. I nodded in thanks and drank the water thirstily. I wonder what had happened. The last thing I remembered was being with Kai in the shelter after what happened with the water sheild when that mysterious man had tried to shoot me because of my birthmark

'You passed out while you were with your friend beside your school. Your aunt has just left, she was here a long while checking on you. Oh and by the way my name is Natasha.' She said and smiled a motherly smile.

Again, she answered the question I had in mind. Could she read minds or had I said it out loud? Aunt? I didn't have an aunt? Or was she referring to Mrs. Jade?

'You can leave when you feel for it miss Adrianna.' The nurse told me politely. And again, I nodded in response. But before she left I felt the sudden urge to ask her something.

'Um, excuse me..?' I said a little louder so she could  hear me. She turned around and waited for me to continue.

'Has anyone else visited me? Possibly my guy friend?' I asked. I didn't even know how and why I had thought about Kai directly.

'Yeah your friend, was it Kai..' She asked more herself than me and then continued. 'Anyways, he was here until a brief moment before your aunt came, he had something to catch up to so he couldn't stay any longer'. She said.

'Oh, thank you.' Strangely I felt a bit disappointed. And then my eyes widend because of what he maybe would do. What if he would tell everybody in school about what had happend back in the shelter? What if everyone would think of me as a freak and I became bullied? But no, I don't think Kai would do that. How do you know Adrianna? You barely know him, what if he is a complete douchebag seeking after popularity?

I decided to grumble about what happend while taking the bus home. But then I remembered that i had to talk to Mrs. Jade about what had occured and why I didn't go to work. I rummaged around my bag to try to find my mobile but I panicked when I couldn't find anything.

Probably at the shelter, I thought.

I would go to the shelter tomorrow and find my mobile. I would probably skip school for a few days depending on Mrs. Jade's reaction on my 'disappearing'.

It was dark outside as I puched open the door to my room. Everyone else was sleeping so I didn't want to wake them up but apparently Mrs. Jade had heard me go up the stairs.

'WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? WE HAVE BEEN WORRIED SICK!' she yelled at the top of her lungs and rushed towards me, searching for injuries.

'I'm fine. I'm really sorry that I didn't call but I left my mobile at school.'

She sighed and sat down on the side of my bed and gestured for me to do the same. After I had sat down beside her she asked slowly,

'Where have you been?'

'Something happened at school so and I needed time to cool down. I just wandered around.' I partly lied because I didn't want Mrs. Jade to know the truth.

She nodded, 'I heard about the thing with the teacher. Don't worry. The teacher Ms. Black said that it was totally her fault and she apologized for what she did.'

'SHE DID?' I exclaimed in surprise

I had been thinking that I would bee suspended from school and that the teacher would have blamed me for causing such chaos. I hung my head low and didn't know what I was going to say.

Suddenly Mrs. Jade's arms were around me. She comforted me and told me everything was going to be alright. This was why I loved her. She was like a second mother to me, although I didn't remember anything about my mother.

'You don't have to go to school anymore. A friend of mine agreed to tutor you. She was a teacher and I think that you will learn much more from her than the school. But her son will join you as well so it's your choice.'

I closed my mouth which was hanging open in surprise. I really hadn't expected for Mrs. Jade to suggest such a thing.

'Thanks. I'll do it.' I blurted it out without thinking

'Great! I'll tell her then. She said you could start next week on Monday.'
