Fire surrounded her. She screamed. Someone laughed behind her but she thought it was just her imagination. She was scared and didn't know what to do. She was crying and her sobbs echoed around her surrounding.

~Adrianna's P.O.V~

I blinked as I heared Kai call my name from upstairs. I went up the stairs with my things and saw that he was in a conversation with his mother. Kai turned around and smiled when he saw me.

'Mom says that you can go home. She's gonna look at the tests tonight.'

I looked at Katherine and thanked her for ageeing to be my tutor and left the house.

I was just around the corner to the bus station when I heard someone running up to her from behind.

It was Kai.

I raised an eyebrow and waited for Kai to catch his breath.

'Here!' he showed me a phone that looked suspiciously like my own.

'Uhm, thanks I guess.. But how -' I probably looked really confused, but that's because I was confused!

'How I got it? Well, do you remember the day you went to the hospital? Yeah, you dropped it in the shelter and I got it for you' He said, smiling proudly. I slowly made my way to him with my arm reached out to grab it. And then, he suddenly smirked, as if in triumph. What? What's funny? I was really near when he suddenly grabbed me by my wrist and dragged me to him. And then, I was in Kai's arms.

'Thanks for today, it was pretty fun. I can't wait til next time.' He whispered.

And then, he just took a step back, turned around and left. He left me shocked, with my mouth gapping open.

As I sat in the bus dozens of thoughts crossed my mind. I was still confused about what Kai had said about my birthmark. I traced the wave with my right pointer finger and smiled. Never in my life had there been a person that actually thought that my birthmark was cool. Everyone else had stared at it in shock, always thinking it was a tattoo.

Time flew past quickly as I realized I was already by the front door of the restaurant. My work times had changed since I'm homeschooled, now I work between 2pm and 8 pm, which gives me about 2 hours of freetime before I go to sleep. Today, I planned to go take a walk before going to bed.

****

The time went by fast while I was busy taking orders, cooking the food and delivering it as fast as I could. You could say that Ms. Jade's restaurant is pretty popular in this small town because her recipes are so delicious. So, when I last looked at the clock it read 19:53, which meant that I could go for my planned walk in a few minutes.

'You can go now Adrianna. You did a really good job today, I'm proud of you.' I thanked her and like that, I was free to go. So I wore my plain black jacket and put a navy blue cap on before I went out the side door of the restaurant. I usually never go out when it's this dark outside but that's becuase I've lived in an orphanage my whole life, so we would go to sleep at this time to wake up again at 5 o'clock.

The night sky was not as clear as I thought, and the air was a bit heavy. It's probably gonna rain soon so I should hurry up. I walked and walked. Through the neighborhood, the other restaurants nearby, until I came to the big park. At first, I hesitated going in since this was the first time that I came here alone at night. But then, I decided to just take a fast walk through it and then go back home to sleep. Because hey, what could happen? I mean, yes it's almost 9 pm but our town wasn't that scary since there weren't many gangs here.

So I walked and just as I thought, no one in sight. At least that's what I thought. Until I heard footsteps behind me. I quickened my pace. Soon, I started to get anxious since the steps started to walk faster, following me.

'Well well, don't we have our little outcast here? Where did you escape Adrianna? We were just trying to have fun with you.'

I immediately recognized the high-pitched girly voice. Savannah. Memories flashed in my mind. The red letters that always read 'outcast' on my locker. All the time they pushed me while I was getting my food so that I dropped my foodtray. The girl that used to bully me together with her two sidekicks, Lindsey and Ashley. The schools most popular girls. They were here. I turned around slowly, only to see their smirking faces looking at me with a triumphant look. I hated them. They were the ones who doomed me to an outcast. They were the ones that convinced my only friend at the time - Christina - that I was a freak.

'What the hell do you want from me?' I tried to play confident, to trick them that I wasn't scared of them. Savannah, the devil dressed in a human body, came forward slowly. Her heavy layer of makeup and highlighter glowed in the faint light.

'Ooh, our little fox has gotten a little stronger. We don't wanna get Savannah angry, do we Adi?'

That's what they called me, a fox. A fox. A damn fox. I remember when Ashley told me why they thought that 'fox' was a fitting nickname. Because apparently, I was as sly as a fox. That I tricked everyone with my 'innocent eyes' but that I was an evil person in the inside. Bullshit. I rolled my eyes at her.

'I don't care about you Savannah, get away from my sight.' I said.

I guess that pissed her off, cause a moment later, she pushed me hard. So hard that I lost my balance and fell to the ground. It started raining at the same time, not good timing. I quickly got up, looked at her and then slapped her across her cheek really hard, I've seen her do this to girls at school many times. How does it feel to taste your own medicine huh?

'Get.The.Hell.Out.Of.My.Sight.' I warned her sternly through gritted teeth.

'Watch your back foxy, this won't be the end.' Savannah answered with teary eyes, and one hand on her red cheek becuase of the hard slap that I just gave her.  And like that, she turned around and left with her loser sidekicks following right after her. After giving me the look, of course. And then I heard another voice from behind me.

'You should've been more careful Adrianna, you never know what girls like that are up too' The unfamiliar blonde haired boy said.

He then winked, turned around and left me speechless. With a hundred questions in my mind.  What the..? How did he know my name? Who is he? What does he mean with 'you should've been more careful?' Does he know me?
