Chapter 9

Ainsley

It’s hard to believe that it is already Thursday, Halloween. The kids had an half day and got out at 11:30 since the school had to set up for tonight. So for a treat, I made a Halloween theme lunch which include: pumpkin sandwiches (peanut butter and orange jelly in jack-o-lantern shape), mummy dogs (pigs in a blanket that look like mummies), bones n’ blood (bread-sticks in bone shape and red marinara sauce), witch’s wand (pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate and sprinkles), spider web dip (7-layer taco dip), and for dessert dirt n’ worms (chocolate pudding with crushed Oreos and gummy worms on top).

The kids got a kick out of it, Shawn on the other hand thought it was lame, but that didn’t stop him from eating a lot. Nathan, Jonah, and Donnie were gone for most of the day and I felt a little flustered without Nathan around.

After our unholy lunch, Shawn went to his friend’s house and would meet up with us at the festival. The girls want to do their nails to match their costumes and since Alexander was the only boy, I told ghost stories and tales.

Emma wanted pirate themed nails so I painted vertical red and white strips and on her pointer fingers a black skull and cross bone. For Payton, the little witch, I paint her nails a deep blue that matches her costume and added silver glitter and one her pointer fingers, I painted a witch’s hat. Now for my little kitten, I paint Sophie’s nails a bright pink and add little paw prints. Once the girls were done, I work on my nails; going for a deep red that matches the red in my costume.

By the time I was down it was close to four, I begin helping everyone dress since I have to be there by 5:30. Of course the girls also wanted their make-up done and I played makeup artist. Emma got a subtle smoky eye and a bold red lip. Payton got blue eye liner framing her eyes and a soft pink lip. Sophie got the typical black dot on the nose and black whiskers on her cheeks and to satisfy pink lipstick.

After that was hair, Emma straightens her hair and I had a hawk feather so I braided it in. Payton wanted her hair curled and once I finish I add a little silver hair glitter. Sophie really didn’t care, so I did two pigtails that spiraled in curls and I slip on her kitten ears head band.

Once I finished the girls and helped Alexander into her Captain American plastic chest armor; I hurry to the guest house. I was already showered and clean so I attacked my makeup first while my curling iron heated up. For my eyes, I do gold that fans out to a smoky black and I use a touch of bronzer on my cheeks. On my lips, I use a deep wine red and use a high gloss shine. When I am happy with my makeup and not looking like a hooker, I move to hair. I do a loose curl through my hair and tie my red scarf around my head.

Now for my costume; putting on the clothes, I tie the other scarf around my waist and I smile when I walk there is a little jiggle of the medallions. Adding gold metal bracelets and gold hoop earrings; slipping into my knee high boots, I instantly grow three inches. Lastly, I get my wool black wrap, because I get cold easy and it’s quite chilly tonight.

I get my tarot cards since they didn’t say that they would provide and I give my appearance a final check before I leave. Walking into the kitchen, I see that Nathan, Jonah and Donnie has returned and munching on the left food from lunch. Jonah’s mouth gaps open when he sees me and Nathan turns around and does the same.
