I woke up on a bed. I could feel something large sleeping next to me and when I turned around I saw it was Max. The clock by the bed said it was 4 am. I shook Max.
"What"
"What happened to me?"
She shot up, "You're awake! You passed out after using your powers. I guess it took too much energy. I dragged you up here since I couldn't leave you on the lawn."
"Oh...that explains why I'm starving. I guess I need to start being careful about how much I use my powers. I can't start passing out all the time. I'm gonna go down and get some food."
"Kk. I'm going back to sleep."

We woke up again at 12pm. After a short breakfast we decided to do research the old fashioned way. At the library using books.
We swam to the huge library that was near Max's house. The entire swim there she would look around, making sure no one was there to kidnap us. She kept a small knife with her now and I had my powers in case someone tried to hurt us again.
"Caly, you go research your power in the powers section and I'll go look in the history section."
I pointed at a table, "let's meet there with the books we find. "
We went our separate ways. I swam over to the power section of the library. It was where the most beautiful books were with gold and silver writing with an antique look. The amazing smell of old and new books was all around me. The books were in the order of most common to least common powers so I went straight to the least common section. There were books there about telekinesis, merging (twins who can join together into one super mermaid/man who is 3 times stronger, physically and song wise), sirenissimo (when a siren can compel merfolk as well, very dangerous in the wrong hands), and after looking past about 40 books, I found one on fire sirens. I swam back to the table where I saw Max already reading.
She glanced up, " This book is about Ariel Mooringsdale, the last known fire siren. She's pretty interesting. Her power showed up around the same time as yours did and she saved the Folk from humans before she was killed. "
"I read that she was the last but I couldn't find much. I found a book on fire sirens but you can see how thin it is."
An old mermaid with was swimming by us and then looked at us.
"Did you just say fire siren?" She asked.
"Yes," I replied. "Do you know anything about them?"
The old woman smiled and said, "My mother told me a story when I was young about my great great great great grandmother who was best friends with a fire siren named Ariel. Do you want me to tell you?"
"Yes!" Max and I exclaimed at the same time.
She smiled again and then slowly sat down at our table.
"This story will take some time to tell. "
"Don't worry, Ms...?"
"Kane. "
"Don't worry Ms. Kane. We have all day. "
