I waited outside the school gates hoping my dad would come any minute, it hasn't been really that long that I've been waiting, it's just the fact that I hated waiting because if I wait for too long,I get really impatient.
A white car pull up opposite the school gates on the other side of the road. I walk over to the car opening the door up front and hoping onto passenger seat.
'Hey dad' I say in my normal cheerful tone that I usually use.
'Hey, you ok?' he replies back, you can kinda hear a small faint English accent in his voice.
The reason to that was when I was the age of 3, he left for England for a business trip for a couple of years,I guess he spent so much time with the people there that he slowly began to develop a British accent. While he was there, me and my other siblings Rayna who at the time was 8 making her the oldest,Justin who was the second oldest at the age of 7 and with Luke making him the youngest who wasn't born at the time stayed with our mother here in L.A, she was a stay at home mom while my dad worked over at England.
Until the second year,my dad had left for England, he began to become really busy that he was always travelling around England and there wasn't hardly enough time for him to make a simple phone call home, I remember how it drove my mom like crazy, I was only 3 back then so I didn't know what was going on.My mom then received a phone call from my dad.
Then the next couple of days were just really hectic after that, my mom was constantly on the phone and before I knew it, we were on a plane to England. As a family, we stayed in England for 5 years, my dad's boss paid for all the plane fares and he even found an apartment we could all live in. For the past 5 years in England I was beginning to understand why we've moved there. It was simply because my dad's boss began to see how hard it was for my dad to cope in his job, his boss was kind enough that he decided that the family should stay in England for a long period of time until my dad was finished with his business to go back to America again. Our dad would come home every now and then giving us more time to see him and I managed to spend more time with him as well. By the time I turned 5, my mom got pregnant and that's when Luke came in, for her it was hard but she managed to look after him while Rayna and Justin went to a middle school there and I attended an elementary school. Bradford wasn't exactly big or small, I still can remember little bits and pieces of the times when us as a whole family would go out at a local cafe and eat breakfast there, and right after that, we headed of to a nearby park.
By the time I turned 8, Rayna was 13, Justin was 12 and little Luke was 4,we left to go back to America again leaving everything behind since my dad was finished with his business in England.
'Laura? Are you ok?' my dad repeats one more time waving a hand in front of my face snapping me back to reality.
'Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just a tummy bug' I reply back smiling at him.
'Ohhhhhhh' he replies back in a mono tone. 'You had me worried for a second there' he continues turning the engine on and begins driving.
'Would you be fine alone in the house? I gotta head straight to work after I drop you off' He asks while keeping his eyes on the road.
'Yes dad, I'm 16, I think I'll be perfectly fine' I reply back taking my phone out of my bag as I felt it vibrating in the second pocket at my feet.
I unlock my phone tapping on the message icon. I read the message saying 'Hey it's Liam by the way. Hope you're ok now' I smile after I read the message and I add his number on my contacts.
'Oh, have you heard any news from Jenny lately?' he asks curiously as he stops at the traffic light.
'Yeah, she finally came to school today' I reply back looking out the window.
