**********************************************************************

We've stood on this common ground now for almost three months and I'm slowly going insane!

Amanda's not as cold towards me as she was; we kid around with each other and watch TV together.

But at least once a week she still goes out with someone else, and that's when I go nuts. Because I haven't moved on, I can't.

At least she's kept her word and tries to make things easy for me. She drops Aiden off at the babysitters when she leaves so I can go out too.

And thank god she has the decency NOT to bring the 'boyfriend' home!

Tonight when she came home she was in quite a rush, "Hey Andy, I've already dropped Aiden off at Sarah's, I'm running late!".

She ran into the bathroom and I sunk deep into my own pity; I guess I was secretly hoping she would sit around here with me tonight.

In a flurry of madness she was ready... almost. She ran out of her room, "Andy, can you zip me up?".

I looked at her and my heart broke a little more. She had on a long, slinky, silvery, satin dress and her hair was pinned up in a ball.

I stood there and slowly pulled the zipper up, then noticed how amazing she smelled; the perfume played with my senses until I sighed aloud.

Amanda spun around ignoring my audible slight. "So, how do I look?", she asked.

I stared deep in her eyes, "Beautiful".

"Oh, thank you Andy.", she smiled and kissed my cheek. "I'll see you later!", she finished an ran out the door.

That's it! I've had enough! I decided to follow her, I had to know who this guy was.

She drove into the country club area and stopped in front of a huge house; larger than the BVB house, it was more like a mansion.

The man who came out was tall like me with dark black hair; actually he could've been my twin.

They got into a black jag and drove to Romero's, a five-star restaurant that offers 'dinner and dancing'. He opened the car door and offered her his arm.

I stood outside the window and watched him pull out her chair for her, order for them both, then lead her to the dance floor; Amanda placed her hand in his and he put his arm around her, holding her close.

Too close for me... I couldn't watch anymore. I got in my car and drove home.

When she came in, she put Aiden in his crib; then tiptoed back out and sat down beside me.

She glowed like an angel and her smile lit up her face, "Andy, guess what?".

"What babe?", I asked. (And yes, I've never stopped calling her babe.)

She squealed, "I've been invited to the country club's new year's eve masquerade ball!".

I couldn't help but laugh a little at her, "So how do they do one?".

"Well, everyone comes alone in their most elegant costumes. And-and you can't take your mask off until after midnight, so it'll all stay very mysterious!"

"It sounds amazing!"

"Oh, I can't wait to get my ball gown!", she went on and on excited like a little kid.

When she finally calmed down she turned her back to me, "Can you unzip me please?".

This go around, I took my time. I leaned in close and brushed my lips against the back of her neck. Her body shivered and goose bumps magically appeared on her back.
