The last month dragged by so slowly; thankfully our last show was in the afternoon and just a three hour drive home.

I rented a car so I could get there as fast as I could; I pulled in, parked, and ran inside, "Amanda baby! I'm home!".

"I'm in here Andy!", she answered from Aiden's room.

I ran in there, grabbed her, and held her so tight. "I've missed you so much!", I gushed.

"Andy. Let me go.", she said so coldly.

I released her and just stared; she wouldn't even look at me. "Aiden's missed you! You need to spend some time with him."

I walked over to pick him up and he reached out for me. "Amanda, I...", I started as I turned around but she was gone.

I carried Aiden with me and found her in the spare bedroom. "What's this?", I asked as I looked around and saw all her stuff in there.

"We'll talk about it later after Aiden goes to bed." I shrugged and she continued, "I wasn't expecting you this soon, I'm going to get something for dinner, I'll be back". She grabbed her keys and left.

While she was gone I looked around, everything of hers was in the spare room. I went into our room, the bed looked like it hadn't been slept in for awhile and there was a letter laying on it.

I sat down to read it while Aiden entertained himself by playing with my necklaces.

Andy,

I've put a lot of thought into this and have decided this is the only way it'll work.

Whatever happened with Jewels is your own business. I just don't care! I've cried enough over this shit and I refuse to do it anymore.

If we didn't have Aiden I would've left a long time ago. But he needs you now as much as he needs me.

So this is the only solution I can come up with. There's no more 'US', we're just two people sharing the same apartment. I've gotten a job so I can pay for my half of this place.

If you want to stay friends, that's fine. You live your life and I'll live mine, that way we can both move on.

But if this won't work for you, tell me now. I've already looked at some other apartments just in case.

I'm only suggesting this arrangement to make it easier on Aiden, until he's older and can understand why mommy and daddy aren't together. I know it'll be hard at first adjusting to this, but I think we're adult enough to get along without fighting in front of Aiden.

Amanda

I read it a few times over taking it all in when Amanda came home. I walked into the kitchen with Aiden in one hand and the letter in the other.

She turned around and saw me, "Well, I see you found my proposal. Just think about it."

She went back to cooking dinner, I shoved the paper in my pocket and sat on the couch playing with Aiden.

We ate in complete silence, it would have been deafening if Aiden hadn't been his usual cheerful self. As we finished he started falling asleep in his highchair, Amanda picked him up and carried him to bed.

I was sitting on the couch now rereading the letter; she returned to the kitchen and started clearing the table. "Amanda, leave that shit and come talk to me!"

"Andy, I'll be done in a second." she answered while loading the dishwasher. A few minutes later she came and sat beside me, "Alright, let's talk".
