Classes the next day are beyond boring, more so than usual, and when my lass class of the day starts, I'm actually happy to be here for once.
I sit in my usual spot, which happens to be the seat in front of Asher, and I'm instantly greated with the usual "Hey."
"Hey," I say sitting down.
"What time do you want me to come over, so I can start moving my stuff in?" he asks.
I internally groan, but I'm also happy; the sooner Asher moves in, the sooner I get more money.
"It doesn't matter; I'm not busy tonight," I tell him taking out my personal finance book.
"What about right after class? I already have everything in my car, and I could give you a ride back."
"Sounds good," I tell him, that way I won't have to call a cab or even worse, get a ride from Jace's driver like I did this morning.
He smiles, showing his dimples, and opens his mouth to talk, but is cut off by the professor. "Please take your seats," he says, and everyone quiets down so he can begin his hour long lecture about the principles of financing.
That class flies by in a mind numbing haze, and I practically jump out of my seat when we're dismissed. Asher and I walk side by side out to his car that I see, even from a distance, is filled to the brink with shit.
I have to squeeze in between Asher and a TV that takes up almost the entire passenger seat just to fit in.
I turn on the radio to fill the silence, and I'm pleasantly suprised when the sounds of EDEN fills the car.
We're almost to our apartment when I feel my phone buzzing in my back pocket. I take it out and I'm suprised when I see "Jace" on the screen. I wonder why he's calling?
I turn down the radio before putting it to my ear. "Hel-?" but I'm cut off by an irritated voice.
"Where are you?" he asks, his voice clipped.
"What?"
"My driver was supposed to pick you up today, but he called and said you weren't there," he says getting impatient.
I roll my eyes. This is what has got him so pissed off? His driver didn't take me home?
"Asher is taking me home," I tell him calmly, glancing over at Asher who is looking over at me, confused.
All I hear is silence on the other end before a deep sigh. "I'll be by your apartment after I'm done with work?" he says as more of a question then a statement, and for that I say, "Okay. See you then."
"Bye, Jasmine," his velvety voice says down the phone.
"Bye." And with that, Jace hangs up.
I put my phone back in my pocket as Asher says, "Who was that?"
"Jace," I say simpily.
"What did he want?" I try and read Asher's expression, but his emotions are closed off for once.
"He just said he was going to stop by later," I tell Asher.
"What is he? Your boyfriend?" Asher jokes, but his voice is laced with something I can't quite put a finger on.
I laugh. "Ha ha. Real funny," I say sarcastically.
Asher smiles and shakes his head in a "whatever" manner.
