"So you're getting back Saturday then?" Asher asks me as he taps his finger impatiently on the steering wheel while waiting in New York traffic. I grimace thinking about Jace's reaction when I said Asher was going to give me a ride home from classes. We had a screaming match over the phone until we came to a compromise that I would come straight to his place after I got home and would stay there until we left for my parent's house in the morning.

"Yeah. I'm gonna pack my stuff and head over to Jace's when we get back."

"Jace's?" he asks, confused.

I mentally face palm myself. "Uh yeah. He's coming with me."

"Oh," he says, smirking.

"What?" I ask, seeing his amusement.

"The last time you talked to me about him you told me you guys were done and now you're inviting him to your family Thanksgiving?"

"Well things change.. And my whole family is going to be there, and with all my aunts, uncles, and cousins no one will even notice him," I say, trying to convince myself more than him that this is not a big deal.

"Whatever you say," he tells me and stomps on the gas pedal, pushing me back in my seat.
----------------------

My phone rings the second Jace's driver takes my suitcase. I hop into the back seat before pulling out my cell phone.

"Has my driver picked you up yet?" Jace asks as soon I answer; I can tell he is still irritated that Asher drove me home.

"Hello to you too," I say, sarcastically.

"Don't be smart," he snaps. "Are you on your way over or not?"

I fight the urge to do exactly what he said not to do. "Yes."

"Good. And just so you know I won't be getting to my place until late tonight, so don't wait up."

Is he kidding me? "What the hell Jace? Why am I even coming over then?" I ask, cutting him off.

"Because I want to know where you are," he says, simply.

I open and close my mouth twice before hanging up on him. He immediately calls back, but I press ignore. A few seconds later I hear Alec say "hello" before saying "yes, sir". He hands the phone back to me.

"It's, Jace," he says, and I'm about to hang up, but the look Alec gives in the rear veiw mirror leads me to think it will cost him his job if I don't answer.

I bring it to my ear. "Hello-?" I say, reluctantly.

"Do not hang up on me," he says, and then the asshole hangs up on me.

"Ugh," I groan wanting to chuck the phone out the window, instead I place it in Alec's outstretched hand.

Crossing my arms, I stare out the window, beyond annoyed at Jace, as the rest of the car ride is made in silence.

Once we arrive, Alec opens the door for me, and I say "thank you" before heading into his building. When I get into the elevator, I realize I don't know his password. Dammit!
