I've been sitting on the balcony for well over an hour with no word from Jace. By this point, I'm so mad at him that it's probably a good thing he doesn't come out here.
Unbelievable, only a couple days after I tell him about my past and say yes to moving in with him, we're fighting, and I haven't even technically moved in with him yet.
Actually, I take that back. It is believable because Jace is completely unreasonable and he says stuff without thinking because he thinks by sleeping with me, everything will be fine again, but not this time. This time we need to talk.
I'm getting tired of waiting for him when I know he's not coming, so I decide to head back inside. I'm suddenly a ten year old girl again as I look through the glass door to see if he's in there. I'm disappointed when I see no sign of him; he didn't leave me here alone, did he?
That thought kind of stings, and I open the sliding door before I come to any conclusions. I hate that feeling of relief that washes over me when I hear the shower running; he's still here.
I take a seat on the couch and pick at my fingernails mindlessly as I think of what I'm going to say to him when he gets out of the shower.
A few minutes later, I hear the water turn off and Jace emerges from the bathroom wearing only a pair of grey joggers, his blonde hair now brown from the water.
He barely glances at me before he heads to the closet and throws on a white t-shirt.
"I'm going to the bar downstairs. Are you coming?" he asks like nothing is wrong.
"You're asking me to get a drink with you?" I guess I shouldn't be suprised.
"I'm taking that as a no?" he says, smiling, but his eyes hold no humor.
"Is that all you have to say?" He's just going to pretend nothing happened?
"What do you want me to say?" he asks, raising his brows.
My eyes burn. Why is he being like this?
"Nothing, I guess." I can't even look at him.
I feel his eyes on me as I rumage through my suitcase for my swimsuit. Feeling bold, I change right in front of him; he looks away.
"Where are you going?" he asks as I walk past him.
"The pool."
A hand wraps around my wrist at the door, stopping me. He's going go apologize, he'll say sorry, we'll sort out our problems, he'll... he pulls something out of his pocket. "Don't forgot the key card," he says handing me a small rectangular card.
"I-" he starts to say, but I interrupt him with a sarcastic "thanks", and shut the door in his face.
When I get to the pool, I realize I don't even want to swim, I just wanted to get away from Jace. I sit outside in the blazing heat for about an hour before I decide to go back to the room; he has to be long gone by now.
I fumble with the key card as I insert into the spot above the door handle. A small "click" sounds, and I twist the knob.
I stop when I find Jace sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands. His head snaps up when he hears me enter; he looks upset. Good.
"I thought you were going to the bar?" I ask, tossing my towel onto the couch and grab my book from off the dresser; it's been forever since I've read, but Jace insisted that I bring a book. Good thing I listened.
