"I'll be right back," I mumble and hastily make my way over to Jace. His eyes follow me the entire time until I'm standing directly in front of him.
I place a gentle hand on his arm and ask, "Jace, can we talk?" Preferably not in a bar standing right next to my friends.
"No, I want to meet your friends," he says and before I can stop him, he grabs my arm and practically drags me back to the table.
All eyes are on us as I sit down with Jace right beside me. He throws a casual arm over the back of my chair, but I know differently; he's claiming his territory. And then he places his free hand on my thigh.
I glance over and see Meghan's eyes all over the hunk of male in front of her, and I can't help the pang of jeoulsy that curses through me.
"This is Jace-" I start to say, but Jace cuts me short.
"I'm her boyfriend," he tells them and eveyone seems suprised by the news. I guess I just haven't gotten around to telling them yet.
I look up at Jace and give him a small smile; his eyes soften emensley and the grip on my thigh isn't near as tight.
My friends all introduce themselves, and I see Jace's eyes zero in at Max when he realizes Max is the only single one. I place my hand on top of Jace's that is still resting on my thigh. He seems to relax just a bit, but not nearly enough.
He leans down. "I'm going to get a drink. Do you want anything?" he asks. I thought he didn't want me to get drunk and now he's offering to get me a drink?
"No thanks," I tell him and with that he heads to the front of the bar. My eyes stay glued to his back, and I realize just how good his butt looks in those jeans.
Meghan brings me out my trance when she says my name.
I turn my attention to her. "Yeah?"
"I said why didn't you tell us you had a boyfriend?" she asks smiling.
I shrug trying to placate my answer. I mean is he my boyfriend? Jace seems to think so, but we've never actually discussed it. I'm not going to give her the complicated answer, so I go with the easier one. "We haven't been seeing eachother that long," I explain.
"Why does he look so familiar? I swear I've seen him before," she says.
Maybe because he's the owner of a multi billion dollar company? She smiles suddenly. "I know where I've seen him. He's the owner of that club we went to, isn't he?"
I nod and force a smile; I had forgotten about that.
My eyes slide back to Jace to see him tipping his head back. Is he taking shots? This is not good. I have to squeeze the side of my chair to keep from going up there to him and demaning we leave.
He comes back a few minutes later with a glass of what looks like vodka. Resuming his seat next to me, he takes a long sip before looking over at me. His eyes are slightly hazy as he stares at me, a lazy smile takes over his features.
"What?" I whisper.
He leans down until his mouth brushes against my ear. I can smell the alcohol on his breath as he says, "You're beautiful."
I blush from the unexpected compliment. "And you're drunk," I inform him teasingly.
He pulls away from me suddenly as if I've slapped him. "No I'm not," he mumbles. I frown at his denial.
"I think it's time to leave," I tell him and start to stand, but he snags my elbow and pulls me gently back down.
"I want to stay," he says and takes another long drink.
