"We're going to my apartment?" I ask with raised brows. I thought he said he doesn't like going to my place when Asher is there?
"No." I wait for him to continue, but he doesn't.
"Then where?" I ask, slightly irritated by his vagueness.
He must hear the edge to my voice because he places a hand on my thigh and shoots me a small smile. "It's a surprise," he says.
"I hate surprises. Just tell me, Jace."
"Dinner," he replies, reluctantly.
I relax a bit. "Can I ask why?"
"So we can talk." He gives my thigh a little squeeze.
Shaking my head, I say, "I don't think that's a good idea. We should go somewhere more private to talk about the car." I just know we're going to get into a fight and I don't really want an entire restaurant as our witness.
"No, this way we can't fight or at least we can't yell." He gives me a pointed look, and I have to nod in agreement; I never thought about it like that.
Sinking back in his comfortable leather seets, I place my hand on top of his.
I must have dozed off a little because the next thing I know Jace is shaking me awake telling me that we're here. My eyes open and I'm expecting to see some overly fancy restaurant in front of me, but instead I see a gigantic building with a mostly glass exterior allowing me to see a bunch of shiny new cars lined up. At first my mind refuses to believe he took me to a car dealership, but then again this is exactly the kind of thing Jace would do.
I try to keep my voice calm and not jump to conclusion, but I'm speaking through my teeth when I ask, "What are we doing here?"
"Getting you a car," he says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. I don't know whether to scream or cry, so instead I step out of his car and start walking in the opposite direction of the car dealership.
I'm glad I brought a jacket as I hurry throught the parking lot in the freezing cold; I wrap my arms around myself as I hear Jace slam his door shut.
"Jasmine, wait! Where are you going?" he yells.
He's lucky he doesn't grab my arm because I probably would have chopped his hand off, but he does get in front of me, blocking my path. I come to a stop and turn in place so I don't have to see him. "Jasmine..." he says gently touching my shoulder; I shrug off his touch, and he wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me against him.
Ignoring my instinct to melt into his touch, I pull at the arm wrapped around me. "Jace, stop. Let go of me," I demand, stepping on his feet multiple times in my effort to get away from him.
"Then stop fighting me," he says spinning me around in his arms to face him.
I push against his chest several times, but he doesn't give. Giving up, I stand completely still and refuse to meet his gaze; my eyes stay on the buttons of his suit jacket instead.
"Look at me," he softly demands, but I keep my gaze on the buttons.
He keeps an arm wrapped around my waist and uses the other one to grasp my jaw and forces me to look up at him. "Take me home-" I start.
"No, listen," he says interrupting me. "Are you listening?" he asks, his blue eyes searching for something; I reluctantly nod my head. "Good. Now this is what's going to happen: we're going to go in there, you are going to pick out a car, I'm going to buy it, you're going to thank me, and then we're going back to my place so I can fuck you until you're screaming my name."
