Turns out I wasn't the only one in my family that seemed to be the leader, even with other people that seem more suitable for leadership, and the house didn't take as much damage as I thought. Dad had been a bit of a decision maker ever since he found the small group. He also didn't know if mom and I were alive, so he made the group and started traveling. He then had a little hope when he ran into the same guy that we asked about the farms to and the man told them about me asking after jumping out of a black Ford Taurus.
Anyway, dad's group helped fix the front of the house and make a makeshift door and it seemed that Herobrine and Steve were both having their suspicions. One day, a few weeks after our groups turned into one and my ankle was healed enough to simply have a boot on, I got out of the bathroom only to be pulled into the bathroom again. I then watched as Steve locked the door and look a bit tired out in front of me as he pressed his back against the door, as if a zombie was right outside. I asked, trying to keep my voice down, "Steve? What's going on?"
"It's about the new group that came around." He panted, as if he had just ran down the road or something.
"And?"
"It's mostly the girl, but I've noticed she had the vengeance look on her face every time she looked at you. I'm just having a bad feeling about that." I nodded, but I didn't get the "vengeance look" he was talking about.
I asked, feeling frustration rising in my blood, "what vengeance look?"
"The look that someone gives another person when they want to do vengeance. Like for taking their place in the group or taking a loved one's life." I then get it. He was talking about being suspicious. And he has every right to protect me as far as he has to. But couldn't he have simply asked me to talk to him in another room instead of making this really awkward?
I nodded, "okay, then. Let's just keep an eye out, like maybe Herobrine can turn invisible and watch her every time she goes off on her own?"
"Do you really think he can do that?"
I shrugged, "he didn't say anything about forcefields until the day he used it, did he not?" We both then laughed a little.
A fist pounded onto the door and a feminine voice boomed, "I need to take care of my business as soon as possible!"
I shouted back, "one sec, Lizzy!" I then giggled lightly, "let's go before someone looses her bladder." I unlocked the door and she gave me a bored look on her face as her face was exposed to both of us.
She stepped around us, "what were you two in the same room like that?"
"Don't you have a bladder to take care of?" She gave me a little "oh, no you didn't" look. I scoffed, "you're welcome." And we both walked away as she went into the bathroom.
I limped down the hallway as several men, whose names were Joe and Calleb, nodded while we passed them. We then walked into the room that was claimed as the "men's quarters" and found Herobrine chilling in it. Some underwear was lying around, which I knew for a fact that they weren't from the two men that I have known for a while. Herobrine then laughed, "I heard the drama in the hallway. Did the two girls fight?"
I shrugged, "sort of. Steve trapped me in the bathroom and told me about your suspicions with Lizzy. And she caught us talking in there and I told her to mind her own business. If she has any." All three of us laughed a little, then a question came up, "where Cecelia?"
Herobrine became serious, "oh, yeah. She's taking care of laundry. You'll be surprised how many layers of clothes they can strip."
"Poor Cecelia..." I sighed and laughed right afterwards.
Steve then said, "yeah. And you're lucky you don't have to sleep with them all night long. Once in a while, I would wake to being hugged to death by sweaty armpits." I laughed harder.
Suddenly, someone burst into the room, "Tash? What are you doing in here?" Dad panted a little as he saw me. I blushed a little.
"What's the matter, dad? Is there something wrong?"
He put his hand behind his head, "I was just wondering. I heard a little shouting."
I laughed, "oh, that? That was Lizzy losing her bladder." He gave me the look he usually gives me when he wants me to know that he knows that wasn't all. I then sighed, "and she found Steve and I talking in the bathroom..." I knew what was coming around. I knew I was in trouble, so I skunked down a little to try to avoid his wrath.
He spoke sternly, "Tash, you know about boys."
"But he's a man. And so far, I don't think he has any... You know the rest..." I felt embarrassed that he had to do this now. And there is no way I am going to tell you the actual thing. Let's just say dad's afraid of men sleeping with me, even though I know a little self-defense. Steve then got it and blushed. He looked pretty cute like that. His messed up hair did the trick of making his appearance look like his personality. Only in the humorous way that he does things, not the way that dad is trying to view him as.
Steve then got serious, "um... Sir, I'm a lot more mature than that. And I only caught her in the bathroom because I had an urgent message for her."
"And what's that?" I jumped and saw Lizzy in the doorway. She then slowly walked in after about five seconds of staring into my soul. She then walked towards me, "is it love? Hate?" She narrowed her eye at me as if trying to pry out the truth from my eyes. I then saw what Steve meant by the "vengeance look".
Steve pulled me back gently and stepped in front of me abruptly, "you're going to have to get passed me before you touch her."
She gasped the way I would imagine a blonde plastic girl would do it, even though she had brown hair in pigtails, "excuse me?"
"I've seen that look you give her every time you look at her, and it always ends the same way. Someone always dies in the end, sometimes with a sword to the stomach, sometimes with a neck hanging from a tree." He looked like he was going to kill her. And I wouldn't blame him, since he has so much experience with hate and death. If I were in his shoes, I would have killed her the first time she gave off that look. I only gave everyone that kind of look when they say or do something stupid. And it only lasts until they acknowledge it and I forget about the incident.
She looked confused, "and that means?"
"That means that you just might end up killing her. And I'll make sure that doesn't happen." He stared at her for a while while she put her hands on her hips. She didn't like what was going on, obviously.
After a while, she gave up, "fine. Have fun with your girlfriend." She walked out in a manner that I know says that she is enraged.
Steve continued staring at the doorway as dad asked, "and what makes you think that?"
One phrase filled the air before he turned around, "witnessing the same thing too many times to doubt it." He then sat on a table and kept staring, looking like he was expecting her to come back. I then had a bad feeling that he was right about her, and that she would do anything to destroy me.
