It has been several days since mom died. We stayed in the house for a while, since Steve, Cecelia, and I didn't know what else to do with me other than to change our bandages and put more antibacterial cream on our wounds. We even had a small funeral for her, since we were the only ones who knew her and knew about her death. I didn't know where my dad was, and I couldn't help but say that he rather thought we were dead or he was killed in the car or was in someone else's shelter. Steve was well enough to carry mom outside and Cecelia did the digging. I was the one who put the flowers on the grave for all of us. We sat there, looking over her grave as we cried. Well, more like I cried while everyone else simply looked gloomy. Soon, food was running out, and Steve had the marvelous idea to make a farm. I looked up at him gloomily, "that would be a good idea, if we actually had suitable soil. Maybe we can try traveling and taking a farm house. When we do, we can put up defences and traps for anything, as long as we don't end up with memory problems." Cecelia giggled and nodded. She liked my idea.
He nodded, "now how do we find one?"
I thought of an idea, "we can start with the food market. Someone has to know where the food comes from." We hopped into my car, which was still parked in the middle of the road, and drove away.
The street was hard to get on. There were a lot of car accidents, especially where intersections are. I had a bad feeling about the highway, but once we saw that there was still someone at the food market, I jumped out and jogged to him, "excuse me, but do you know where this food came from?"
He looked at me with a cigar in his mouth, and he had really aged, so when he took it out to speak, he blew a cloud of smoke into my face, "sure thing, little lady. There's a farm about five miles down the road. I have my own and so far, no one else has asked, so you might have a chance at that farm. It's for most of the vegetables that you see, and there is some fruit too. All you have to do is continue going straight until you see Ghost Street on the right. There you should turn and it would take a while before you see the actual farm. The last time I checked, there were animals there. Also there is trapping equipment there."
I jumped up the air, "I LOVE YOU!" I hugged him, only seconds later I was backing off from the large amounts of smoke that came from his shirt. I then asked, "then what are you doing here?"
He nodded and answered, "I'm a little low on water, I came here to see in anyone left anything. That, and there are cars with possibly good loot here." He then walked are way and started smashing the window in a car, making glass fly onto a dead body.
After I got away and into the car, Cecelia puckered up her lips, "so you're in love with a smoker? I think I know what you have been in." I glared at her as she laughed.
I spoke, "alright let's go. I want to see if this farm is still available and the owners died."
She gave a suspicious look, "so much for the caring girl I used to know." I laughed at her when she said that.
I drove about five miles when I saw a sign that said, "Ghost St." I turned sharply, and, thankfully, no one else was behind me, because I was driving like a lost person or an old woman. Steve almost crushed Cecelia between himself and the door. After they had separated, Cecelia got onto me, "and you didn't warn us?!" I laughed under my breath and we were starting to drive on a rough dirt road. Small rocks started bouncing all around under my car. Steve gave off a concerned look when he heard this. We had to put the seatbelt on him or he wouldn't have one on him. It took a while before we saw the farm. It was a little old with a few cracks along the sides, and that was the only thing that the man didn't mention. At least so far. When I parked the car, we all jumped out and ran towards the barn. Well, more like everyone but Steve, who tried to jump out of the car only to be pulled back into his seat by the seatbelt. Cecelia had to stay back for a while to get him out. We were both trying to keep our laughter down until he got out.
