Tiana's POV
Beth was a complete mess. She didn't even bother to put on makeup or properly brush her hair anymore. I almost felt bad for ruining her life, but then I remembered the many times that she ruined mine.
The one memory that I will never forget was my freshman year when Beth told everyone that I had gotten a STD over the summer. No boys talked to me that entire year. All the girls would plug their noses when I walked by. It was my worst year.
Tate, on the other hand, was trying to suck up to Carrie. Tate was always mean to everyone, so she had no friends. She and Beth hated each other.
I found it funny how everyone made fun of them now. The boys called them "sluts", "hoes", "whores", and basically every name that you do not want to be called as a female. The girls didn't do as much, though. I think they were still scared from the previous years of torment from the two of them. Everyone in our school was one of their victims.
"I've met a boy and I can't seem to get him off my mind." Miley sighed. I was wondering why she kept daydreaming and smiling at the sky. I should've known it was because of a boy.
"I feel you, Miley. Kendall finally noticed me." Grace blushed. I guess Cupid shot both of them with a million arrows. I didn't think it was possible to gush so much over a boy.
"Oh my goodness, would you two listen to yourselves?" I groaned.
"His name is Rico. He plays soccer." Miley went on.
"I'd probably kick his ass." I smirked. Soccer was the one thing that I could hold onto. No one could ever take that away from me. That's why I cherished it so much.
"Oh my gosh! His butt is amazing."
"I applied for a job to be a soccer coach. Hopefully, I'll get it." I said. I'm not sure why, though. It's not like they were listening to me.
"Good for you, T. I know you'll get it." Grace finally acknowledged me.
My phone buzzed in my hand. The dark screen lit up with a phone call.
"It's the league," I chirped, "I'm going to take this."
I left my love struck best friends outside and walked in to take the phone call.
Once I entered the stairwell, I answered.
"Tiana speaking." I tried my best to sound professional. The suspense was eating me up.
"Hi, miss. This is the Miami Soccer Association. We would like to schedule an interview on Friday. Is that okay?" a woman asked. Her voice was high-pitched and a bit squeaky. I imagined her as perky.
"Of course. I will be available. What time?" I couldn't hold back my smile.
"Does noon work?"
At noon, I had lunch. We were allowed to leave for lunch, so it would work.
"Yes, ma'am. Thank you." I disconnected the call. Did I hang up too soon? Did I sound responsible? There were so many possibilities running through my mind that could hurt my chances.
I gathered my thoughts and began to walk to class. However, just outside the door were Kendall and Tate. Something secretive was going on.
Well, what were The Instigators for? Exposing secrets. So, as a good Instigator, I started to record.
"Pay up. You wanted the stuff and now I have it." Tate tapped her foot impatiently.
"Look, I only have 50 dollars." Kendall counted his bills.
