Mermaids Have it All

Chapter 5

"Alright! Just stay quiet and calm so I can just tell you it!" Ari said. I nodded my head and waited for her to speak again. "So....Long ago when humans didn't even know what mermaids were their was one mermaid who did. His name was Leo. Leo went close to shore. He drowned since he was in air for too long! He died on the shore where many humans saw him! He was pretty stupid, I must say. Anyway since then king Poseidon ruled and made a new law, If any human sees a mer they are to be killed or transformed into mer and sent into the ocean. Now here is some simple knowledge you need to know!:
When you become wet you will get your tail. When you are dry you will have legs. "
She stopped for a moment and got up. "What are you doing?" I asked as she went to the kitchen. She got a water bottle and brought it back to us. She sat back down. She opened the cap and poured a few drops on her legs. Magic swirled around her blocking my view to see what was even happening. Then the magic stopped and I realized she had a purple tail and top. "I'm mer too after I met C- Lily...Um...also her name is Cora! N-not Lily..." Cora was famous as Poseidon's daughter. "WHAT?" I exclaim completely suprised. She giggled nodding her head. Then she put her hand in a fist next to her tail. It bubbled then the magic swirled around her again but it lasted shorter. Then once again she had her tanned legs. I watch with my eyes sparkling. She has powers? I thought before she said," Most mers have powers! I have the power to boil water! I wonder what you have!" She smiled. Then she put the bottles down on the coffee table.
   I moved my hand weirdly 'till water began to float. It went up into the air. "Whoah..." I mumble watching it. "You have the power to make water float!" Ari said. I slowly let the water go back into the bottle.
  "Alright! Something else you need to know is-....you can now breathe under water because gills appear on you neck when you are wet! And if you are in mer form and breathing air for 30 minutes or more...then you will die...Sadly! But it is true....Cora is swimming! And you are going to get some mermaid swimming lessons!" Ari winks. She stands up and grabs my hand. Barefooted and still with our clothes on when dash to the beach. Ari then let's go of my hand and runs into the water. She pokes her head up out of the water after she transformed. I gulped and followed after, falling into the water when my tail came.
  "Let's swim!" Ari smiles. She shows me how to swim fast, slow, and different things. It felt good to swim like this. It made me kinda happy. Then she tells me where to meet Cora. Smiling we both have a race to a big rock in the waters. Cora sat on it. When she heard a splash from our tails she looked down and jumped a little when he saw us. "J-Jenna?" "Yes!" Cora nodded and just slid into the waters. "Let's go see you father," Ari tells Cora. Cora nods and the two dash under water with me behind.
   I flick my tail. I see Cora's lime green tail in the water. Then under the water I see something. It was huge. It was made of jewels and-.....Wait is that a-
