Mermaids Have it All

Chapter 7

"You've met before?" Ari asked she stared at Luke and I while Cori just giggled.
"In the hallway at school!" Luke told them. Luke looked into my eyes with that warm smile. "Jenna right?" He asks. I nod taking my eyes off of him. "I n-need to get back up to the surface." I say remembering the deal. Luke nodded as a frown appeared on his face. "I'll show you the way. Maybe we can get to know each other better." He says. I look at Ari and Cori who nod. "Sounds great.." I say turning back to Luke. "Well come on, then!" He says grabbing my wrist. "WHOAH!" I yell as he yanks me out of the castle.
When we were finally outside the place he stops holding on to my hand. "Luke! What was that for?" I say staring down at my hand. "Oh, just for fun!" He giggles. "Now stop asking questions and let's just have some fun!" He says grabbing my hand again.
My heart quickens since last time he grabbed my wrist. This time it was my hand which-...which felt good.
"WOOOHOOO!" Luke yells as he makes a circle in the water. Of course I did to since
HE WAS STILL HOLDING ON TO ME!

  "Sorry," he says finally letting go of my hand. I slowly put my hand away from his reach. We had stopped now and were just look down. "Mermaid? Fun right?"
  I looked back into his eyes. I wasn't sure why, but his eyes always made my stomach catch more butterflies. "Yeah! I can't believe not everyone get's to experience the wonders this place gives!" I say twirling around. Then I start to swim forward remembering that we are suppose to be heading to land.
  He follows. "You want to know something I like about you?" I can hear my heart pounding. I feel my cheeks go warm. "W-what?" I choke. "I like the fact you aren't going all crazy like the other girls. By now most girls have already fainted. Ha! In fact I've never had a girlfriend for this very reason!" "R-really?!" I say.
"I wouldn't mind dating this dude..."
I think. "Look! We are almost to shore!" Like points out. I stare ahead and notice the sand is slowly going up and how heads are about to come out of the water. Our tails pat the ground and our lungs get filled with air. Finally we couldn't swim any longer and had to drag our bodies onto shore. Before we had checked for people.
   Both of us are silent as we laid tired from using all our strength for getting onto land.
  I feel my tail warm up. It began to irritate my skin with the burning sensation. Then I watch as it disappears leaving my legs. I realize it was Luke who was now doing the same thing to his tail.
  Once his feet formed we stood. I noticed my house far down the shore line. It would be a little walk but not much. "Do you need me to walk you home?" He asks. I bit my lip. "I think I'll be fine.." "Sure.."

"I'm sure!"

Then we were silent again. I look down at my green shorts then look back up. When I look back up I feel a small bump along my cheek. I realize it was Luke who has just kissed it. I began to blush even harder than before.
  "See you tomorrow at school..." He whispers before walking away. He started walking the opposite way of my home to the left. I stare at him for a bit still in shock of what had just happened. Then I walk towards my house....
