She looked like a deer caught in headlights as if he had discovered her deepest and darkest secret. It was as if she thought that no one would ever notice that she was acting, that she was lying to everyone even herself, and the saddest part was that at some points he could tell that she was beginning to believe her own lie of happiness.

After a few moments of silence, she still answers the question, but her face has put up another wall that he is not able to see past, he can no longer see the broken and sad girl. Now all he sees is darkness in her eyes. "So what if I'm broken, I cannot be pieced back together I am shattered, into a million pieces." Her answer shocks him to the core, she believes that? she thinks that she is so broken that she cannot be fixed? This angers him, who would have allowed this to happen to her? Where were her friends? How did they not notice this? I am going to have to fix this. She shouldn't be broken. So he smiles at her and states "Maybe we just have to fix that."
