Chapter 27

Chapter 27

I stayed in my room until it was dark, then I went outside. I arrived just in time. A huge storm was brewing. As soon as I was fully on the dec, Robert yelled. "Miss Serena! There is a ship approaching!"

I ran up the stairs by the helm and looked over the railing toward the crew.

"Quickly to your stations! Ready the cannons! Someone go tell Ky the captain what is going on." I must admit that it was weird calling Ky the "captain"

"You go get him yourself!" a crew member said. I sighed in frustation. Why was he treating me like this? Oh yeah. I'm a girl.

Luckily Ky heard him.

"How dare you treat her like that! She is like your captain when I am not there. You will listen to her orders and you will do as she says. Understand?" Ky said, angrily.

The crew mate nodded, did a little bow then went back to his station. Ky walked up the stairs and stood next to me. We watched as the crew ran all over the deck, trying to get things ready. Meanwhile the ship got closer and closer.

"It's the pirate ship! Run to the armory and arm yourself!" Ky ordered the crew. They did as they were told. A crew member handed a sword and sheath to Ky and one of each to me. He also handed Ky and me a gun. I put it in it's sheath. To be honest I had no idea how to shoot a gun. I mean I have once. (It was Harry's brilliant idea. He made a bet with me that whoever hit the bullseye would get the other persons dessert for a week. I hit it in the center. He didn't. Maybe it was just luck.)

The other ship was approaching and fast.

"When they are in range, do not fire! Let them make the first move! We don't want to complicate things. Wait for them to make the move. " I called out.

In seconds the ship was right next to us. The pirate ship stopped. It was silent. If a pin dropped somewhere, it would've been heard by everybody. Then the pirates attacked. The pirates were boarding our ship. I pulled out my gun and hoped it would hit something that was not our crew. I fired and hit a pirate swinging on a rope. The bullet hit him on the shoulder and he crashed into the ocean. I fired another bullet at another pirate and he too fell into the ocean. That is when the fight began. Pirates were everywhere.

Ky and I both jumped over the railing and landed on the deck below. (It was quite a jump) We helped in the fight. We all fought for our lives. 

At one point, Ky and I were back-to-back. He yelled next to me. "Serena, let's board the other ship."

I nodded and together (much to my dislike) we ran to the side of the ship. We both grabbed a rope and swung across. We landed softly on the deck of the other ship.

"Follow me." Ky whispered. I nodded again and followed him down a couple stairs. We were where the prisoners were kept. We looked around and found a prisoner in a cage. It was Alex!

"Alex!" I cried. I ran up to the bars. "What happened?" I asked.

"Serena! You're alright! Oh and by the way, your stupid monkey is over there." he said, ignoring my question. 

"Steve!" I cired and ran to where the little monkey was chained up. 

Then I realized something. "Ky! You left without Steve?" I complained, turning to Ky. 

"What? That little crabnugget is smart enough to find you. He always does. Eventually." he said. I rolled my eyes. "See? He found us after all."

"I figured." I said. "Really? Crabnugget?"

"What? There may or may not be names that I call him in my mind that are not very appropriate." I rolled my eyes yet again at him. 

Turning to Alex, I said, "Alex, where are the keys?" I asked him. Alex pointed to where they were and Ky grabbed the keys off the hook. He quickly unlocked the lock and Alex came out of the cell and immediately hugged me. 

I was suprised at first. I didn't hug him at first. I was stupid and looked at Ky. He was hurt but once he saw my gaze, his expression hardened. "Are you alright?" Alex asked me and I nodded. 

"Is there anybody else here?" I asked. 

"No. It was just me and Steve." he answered. I turned to look at Steve who was still chained up.

"Ky, really?" I said. He was starting to walk away, like he was innocent. "Where do you think you are going? Unlock Steve. Did you think I wouldn't notice?" he didn't answer. He got a little mad and said some unintelligent things under his breath but he reluctantly unchained Steve. 

Steve walked up to where Ky's hand was and bit it.

"Ow! Serena! He bit me!" Ky complained.

"Not my problem. That's what you get for not wanting to unlock his cage." I told him. He huffed in frustration. I turned back to Alex who was laughing. I slapped him playfully on the shoulder. Ky didn't like that. I thought I heard a little growl/whimper from Ky but I might have imagined it. Steve landed on my shoulder.

"Let's get out of here." I said.
