Once at the mall, Ella looked around. Where should I put my bike? she wondered, looking around. But then she saw Melanie's father's car park in the lot. It was a bright red Sedan. Ella liked it. A lot.
Ella saw Melanie come out the passenger side. Her father stepped out the other side. Once Melanie saw Ella, she laughed and told her father something. Ella realized what a fool she had made. She could tell she had started to blush. Melanie ran over to Ella, father walking behind.
"Ella, why didn't you ask for a ride from my dad?" Melanie grabbed Ella's bike and handed it to her dad, who put it it the tiny trunk in there car.
The three then walked in the mall. Melanie's dad told us he'd be in the center, by the three fountains. Melanie and Ella first walked over to Ben's Bonbons, a French sweet shop. Melanie explained to Ella that Ben could only speak French.
"I speak perfect French," informed Ella. Melanie stared, but then shrugged.
When the two walked in, Ben came up to them. He was plump with grey hair and a grey shirt and shorts. But his shoes were light pink, complimenting his pink apron with the shop name and a candy cane on the front.
"Salut, les filles!" he exclaimed. Melanie looked confused but Ella smiled.
She whispered to Melanie, "That means, 'hello, girls' in French." Melanie dropped the confused expression and put on a happy one.
"Aujourd'hui, nous avons beaucoup de chocolat!" he informed the two. Again, Ella translated for Melanie.
"Today we have lots of chocolate."
After buying some candy, Ella and Melanie hit the jewelry store. Ella felt like a normal girl! Until she picked up a silver bracelet.
