Ella wasn't far from home. Cory's house was only two houses down from hers. So when her father looked out the blinds of the window, Ella could see clearly what was about to happen.
"Oh, sorry, gotta go!" she said quickly, running home.
Cory put on his puzzled face again, an eyebrow raised and his lips curved to the side. "Huh?"
Once Ella arrived at her house, she took a deep breath and took her key out of her purse. She stuck it in the lock and turned it, the click of the door unlocking. She turned it back again and put the key in her purse, opening the door. Mr. Rook stood in front of her. He had been waiting for her to come home.
"Sweetie," he said in his mysterious voice. "What do you think you were doing with that, that boy?!" he shouted. He flicked his hand, bending his wrist in an odd way. The two family wolves, Moonlight and Crimson, came clawing down the stairs. Moonlight was a light grey female while Crimson was a dark, male.
I knew what these wolves could do. "Please, Father," I begged, stepping forward. "Please don't make them attack me!"
There were different types of werewolves. The Rooks were a special kind called Magttacks. Magttacks were werewolves that, if they got injured or attacked, part of their magic would disappear.
"Sweetie, I'd never do that to you," hushed Mr. Rook. "With your mother gone, well, you're the only one I have left." Ella saw a tear roll down his pale cheek. It dripped from his pointed chin to his black leather shoe tip.
Ella walked up to him. "Father, it's okay." Ella was only about half a foot shorter than her father. She hoped that one day she'd be the alpha of the pack. Right now a man who, in the real world, is called John Ethel. He was born a werewolf, so he was a pure werewolf. Pure ones were usually ranked better, because there was no way they could be any kind of spy.
Mr. Rook nodded and whistled at the wolves. Crimson and Moonlight swiftly walked away, back up the stairs of the old house.
Ella smiled at her father as he followed Moonlight and Crimson to his room. Ella then walked into the dining room to do her homework. Father trusts me, she thought, sitting down on a dark wooden chair. He knows I am responsible to not tell Cory about me too much!
In the middle of doing the square root of one hundred twenty eight, Ella jerked her head up, towards the front door in the kitchen. She had heard a tap, quieter than a knock but louder than a bug that flew into the window. Ella slowly set down her homework and trudged to the door. She was smart enough to make sure her father wouldn't come down the stairs. Knowing she was safe to check out the noise, Ella grabbed the doorknob and twisted extremely quickly. She pulled it, the gust of wind from the door opening quickly. Nothing was there. The garage door was broken, and it wouldn't shut. Someone could have come in the garage!
Ella gasped. She quickly checked for anyone. Her garage was large and clean, for they store their car inside. She walked barefoot on the cold floor towards the open gap. She wished the garage door wasn't broken.
Ella jumped up when she heard a familiar noise. It was coming from under the car.
