The young woman smiled. "Mr. Ethel vants you," she said, pronouncing her W's like a V and rolling her L's. She walked from the door, knowing Mr. Rook would follow her. But she didn't know that his daughter would, too.
Ella snuck behind her father. She wondered if he knew she was behind. But she got her answer when she got a para. A para was a message that werewolves can send to another. It appears as if the words are right in front of you. The background is black and the words are white.
The words appeared below:
Ella, keep quiet. Yes, I know you're here. But I need to tell you this! Victoria is taking me to the river. I don't know if she knows, so be very quiet as you come.☺
Ella knew it was her dad because he left his own mark. Every pack member has a mark. Mr Rook's is the smiley face that was in the message. John Ethel's is •, for he is the Alpha of the pack.
Ella smiled when she saw her father turn his head behind to smile at her.
Ella tried to not make noise, which wasn't very hard. But every now and then, there would be a stick to dodge, or a dry leaf to not miss. But, because it was May, there weren't many dry leaves or sticks to evade on the ground. Suddenly, Ella stopped walking, for she couldn't see. She had gotten another message. It was in bold, but still white.
Okay, I know you're following me. Your dad sent me a para. You can stick around, if you can keep the secret-♦
Ella scowled. What a rat! she thought to herself, thinking about her dad.
Ella knew who it was from, because Victoria's symbol was ♦. Ella's symbol was ♥, a heart.
She sent Victoria a para. In order to send a para, you must concentrate of the words in your mind. Then, you tell your brain what symbol, person, it'll go to, and it's sent!
Suddenly, Victoria got a message. It was the message from Ella. She stopped, for she couldn't see. And she didn't want to hurt herself while reading the para.
Okay. But this is weird-I had a dream about this very river! ♥
Victoria sent Mr. Rook and Ella a para telling them to stop walking and to stand in the grass while they sent paras
Once the two got the para, they nodded and stood, sending each other little messages. The good thinbg about sending paras was that no one could hear you! You could talk about other werewolves, but that wasn't a good idea. A werewolf can hack into someone else's paras, which is very hard, but it is still possible.
It takes up lots of magic points. You get magic points by studying and practicing other magic to get better. Every time you use magic, you spend magic points. Ella's magic points were at 156, Mr. Rook's at 309, John Ethel's at 568, and Victoria's at 212.
Anyways, the three sent each other paras. We will be a bit late. We are sending each other paras ♦, Victoria sent to John. Mr. Rook sent to his daughter, I think the dream was actually a para disguised as a dream. More like a vision, really. A video para!☺ Video paras did exist, but they costed 100 magic points. And a video para disguised as a dream? Probably 175 magic points! Werewolves normally didn't send video paras.
After planning out what they would do, the three decided on an idea. Since the sun was setting, all three of them were going to look straight at the moon, which would make them change into wolf form in about ten seconds. Moonlight made werewolves change. If a werewolf in human form looked straight at a full moon, they'd immediately change. But if it was a crescent moon, like that night, it's going to take longer.
So, once the moon came out, the three stared right at it. Hair grew, and so did nails, which turned to claws. Fur grew on heads, hands and arms, legs, and everywhere else. After about fifteen seconds, the three were all in wolf form. Mr. Rook was a dark grey wolf with green eyes. Ella and Victoria both had different colored eyes, but Victoria had darker fur than Ella. Immediately, the three ran in different directions.
You see, since wolves and dogs have amazing hearing, they listened for the calming noise of a flow of a river. Ella was running up ahead, while her father went another way to get there faster, but more of a dangerous trip. And Victoria, well, father and daughter had no clue how she was going to get to the stream.
But, when Ella found herself at the banks of the river, her father was already there. So was Victoria.
There was one problem with being in wolf form-you couldn't talk. But you could still send paras.
John Ethel lay on the grass. He was probably here first, thought Ella as she strutted over to her father. She sat next to him. Victoria stood and Mr. Rook was lying down.
Suddenly, John sat up quickly and howled. The howl could have been heard from a long way, if you were a wolf. Suddenly, everyone got a para from John. Just making sure everyone is present-•
John Ethel dove into the pond. He was under for a long time. Ella wondered how long he had been under, holding his breath. The pack was in a line on the edge of the river, panting over. Waiting. For something. Or someone.
My father stared into the river, deep in the liquid. He seemed to be a polar bear waiting for a seal to take a breath of air, staring into the large stream.
Ella sent a para to her dad. This is my dream! she sent, nudging him with her head. He ignored her. He didn't even acknowledge his only daughter was next to him. He didn't even look up or look into the corner of his eye.
Suddenly, John Ethel jumped out of the river. Even though it had to be deep enough for him to dive in, he'd have to stand in the water to make a jump like he had. He was in his human form, standing on the side of the river. Liquid dripped from him, from the river.
Just then, the clouds parted, freeing the moon's glow. It shone on John Ethel. Shone on his body, his whole body. The light glowed on him. You could even see the expression on his face. Stony and cold. He looked as if he was staring into something far off into the distance.
Ella gasped, which came out as a growl. The water from the river was red and runny. She immediately realized what liquid was in the river. Blood. All blood. No river water, no mud. Just blood.
