So if I stand in front of a speeding car

Would you tell me who you are, what you like?

What's on your mind, if I'd get it right?

Chapter 11
Tying Ties

The recent incident with the girls in the toilet sent the entire staff to an edge. Several security measures were taken and several aurors will be attending the ball to ensure maximum security. An earlier curfew has been presented, and students were to move everywhere in packs.

McGonagall was trying her best not to let history repeat itself, while also trying to give the students a regular school year. Preparations for the ball were proceeded and on the final day things were hectic.

Everyone on the planning team had been running for days now, wanting to perfect their jobs. It was sometime after ten o'clock in the morning when Harry and Ron asked Draco to help him carry something in.

"Can't you ask someone else? I really need to finish enchanting this ceiling." But the boys insisted.

The moment he stepped outside the castle he greeted by a slap on the back of the head. It was Ron of course.

"Oi! What the fuck?" Draco was pissed- they interrupted his work to hit him?

"How are things with Hermione, Malfoy?" Harry asked him with his arms crossed across his chest.

"Fine. Great. We're just stressed about the ball basically, but everything's fine."

"Have you by any chance, forgotten to ask her to the ball?"

"What? How old are we twelve? Come on mate, Hermione doesnt care about that crap-" and there came another slap on his head from Ron.

"Seriously Weasley, beating the shit out of you seems like a great idea right now."

Ron raised a finger at Draco, "One would think you'd be smarter than this. Hermione does care about this crap. All girls do- S'matter of fact, I think my mum still does. After all these years, she'd wait for my dad to ask her out."

The blood started to drain out of Draco's face as he slowly started to realize what he's done. So you two, have asked your girlfriends if they would like to go with you?

"Yes." Ron replied simply.

Harry took his glasses off to clean a smudge as he explained, "Look the night I asked Ginny if she'd like to go with me, has been our best time yet-" And there came Ron's slap across Harry's head.

"Sorry." Harry muttered at his shoes. Ron slapped him on the head again either way.

"How do I fix this?" Draco was full-on panic mode at that point. "Should I go ask her now?"

Ron shook her head, "No. That would've worked a week ago. At this point, your only chance of survival is a grand gesture."

Draco left the two and headed to the owlery to write his mother. The woman was a sucker for romance, and if there was anyone who could help, it's her.

He was done with enchanting the ceiling, and was now helping Dean levitate a few tables across the hall when his owl Dragon came back. Draco immediately recognized his mothers neat handwriting and sighed in relief when he read her letter.

Her reply was short but efficient.

Dear son,

You're an idiot.
