Not So Much Goodbye

I looked around the empty room. Well almost empty. One two things remained in the room. My bed, it's sheets and blankets stripped from it leaving it bare. And my desk that sat in the corner away from the bed. It once contained my laptop and school books which were turned into the school on my last day three days ago. I am no longer a student enrolled at Grant High School. They even through me a going away party, but it was just a sad party. Everything else I owned was packed and already shipped and arrived at my aunts. The only belongings with me was in my carry on and a very small suitcase. My laptop, iPod, plane ticket, my favorite book that is so worn out that the spine of the book looks like it could fall apart, but it's one of the books you can't replace. It belonged to my mother and was her favorite book.

"Emmie." dad said. I set my bag down. My plane was in two hours. "We should get going. Don't want to miss your flight."

"Yeah... right." I said. I picked my bag up again. We both left the house and got into his car.

The drive to the nearest airport was an hour and it was the longest hour of my life. No one talked. The only noise came from the car radio. It's not like you see in the movies. Neither of us were pouring our hearts out or singing along to some song we both know on the radio. I didn't even know the song that was playing, but I guess he knew since he was nodding his head along, I half expected him to start moving his hips like that Miley Cyrus song Party in the U.S.A. And there defiantly won't be a sad goodbye that will make you cry, those are just for the movies.

We got to the airport and I got out. I noticed that he didn't move. I stood there for a few minutes waiting to see if he would get out of the car, but he didn't. I did the only thing i could.

I waved goodbye and walked into the airport ready to take on a new life.
