PAISLEY

Today's the day. The first day of my own personal hell. I'm waiting for the time to turn to 7:00 am so my alarm could ring and I can get up and get ready for my last first day of high school.

RING RI-

I immediately shut it off, throw off my blankets and get up.

It's 8:15 am, and by now I have showered, brushed my teeth, put my makeup on, and gotten dressed up. I'm wearing rolled up grey joggers with a white baggy shirt, white converse, and my hair tied up into a high pony. I take one final glance in the mirror and the moment I did, I found myself being disgusted more and more from the sight. I looked away immediately, not wanting to see any more of myself. I shake my head repeatedly, trying to get those sad thoughts out of my mind and plaster a fake smile on my face.

Okay now I'm ready.

I head downstairs, with nerve wracking thoughts making their way into my mind as I wonder what will happen on my first day of school.

I breathe out a sigh of exasperation, and walk towards my grandmother, who is sitting idly by the kitchen counter.

"Hey Pais, you look nice," my grandmother says.

No I don't.

"Thanks gramma," I smile at her. "Who'll give me a ride to school today? I don't really know where it is and how I would be able to get there."

"Oh your grandpa didn't tell you?" I shake my head. "Our neighbour goes to the same school as you, so problem solved, you have rides to school everyday."

"Wouldn't that be a hassle for her?" I ask.

"He doesn't mind, he's a very nice boy."

I would've rather the person be a girl but free rides to school? I can look past that little issue. Before I sound like a sexist, I should probably inform you all that I'm very much indeed an awkward person but with boys, my awkwardness is intolerable.

"Paisley?" My grandmother's voice breaks me out of my reverie.

"Yeah?"

"Jake is waiting outside," she smiles at me.

"Huh, Jake. Cool name," I mumble to myself.

"What was that?" My gramma asks with a confused look on her face.

"Oh nothing! Gotta go!" I plant a kiss on her cheek, grab my bag and walk out the door.

Right when I make it outside, I hear three honks coming from my right. I look to my right and see a red mustang with tinted windows. I absentmindedly run to the house next to mine, and make my way to the passenger side. He honks two more times which not only startles me, but also makes me jump in surprise. I open the door and sit down in less than a nanosecond.

"You didn't have to honk so many times!" I turn to face this Jake guy, and notice he's wearing shades, and a baseball cap.

"Are you in disguise or something? I at least want to see the guy who will be giving me rides to school everyday."

"Why?" He asks, his deep voice sounding very familiar to my ears.

"Because you might be a creep or something!" I answer in an aggravated tone.
