Derek:
"Alex wait," I called but she ignored me and walked away. I didn't know if I did something wrong, but I'm just going to leave her alone. That's probably all she wants at the moment. And I'm going to give it to her. I went back inside just as Anthony ran towards me.
"Derek, where's Alex?" he asked.
"She had to go home."
"Oh, her parents wanted her to come home?" My chest tightened.
"Ya, something like that," I muttered.
"Well, tell her to come back sometime," He grinned and walked upstairs. If she ever wants to talk to me again, I thought.
Alex:
I was surprised when I got a phone call from John, "Hi John."
"Hey Alex, how are you holding up?"
"Same as you left me," I say.
"Listen Alex, there is a slight problem..." John trails off nervously.
"With?"
"You know the Bloods?" John asked. I remember them. They're a gang I never got along well with. Well, I never get along well with anyone, but the Bloods just hated me. We fought a couple times, but it ended up with one or more of their members getting arrested.
"Yes," I said slowly, not sure where this is going.
"Well, from what I heard they're trying to get you or anyone close to you."
"I have no one close to me," I told him. If those dicks want something, then they come to me and not anyone close to me - if I had anyone close to me that is.
"What about that Derek guy?"
"How would they know him?" I asked.
"They got a lot smarter over the years."
"They're going to target Derek?" I asked worriedly. They can target me if they want to, but not Derek. It's not fair that he's going to get caught up with the shit I have to deal with. I need to get them before they get Derek.
"If they can find him, yes."
"Well then I need to find them first."
"Be careful Alex," John warned.
"Don't worry about me." I hung up, got dressed and headed out. They usually target dark alleys, or ghetto areas. I felt relief because Derek never went to places like those, at least I hope he didn't.
I started walking without really knowing where I was going. I was trusting my instinct to take me to Derek. I saw a dark alley near by, but didn't hear anything coming from there. I walked towards the alley just to make sure nothing is going on. I'm pretty sure The Bloods have something in their sleeve. I just hoped they didn't target Derek. I don't want him hurt. He didn't deserve pain. I took out a cigarette, lit it and took a long drag. Who ever said not to smoke is an idiot, it relaxes you and makes you feel so much better.
I continued walking but found nothing. It was getting darker so if The Bloods are going to make a move it would be soon. Maybe I should walk to Derek's house, would they know where he lives? If they want to know they will. I started to panic, and I hate panicking, it makes me fight badly. I took another long drag out of my cigarette, and again it helped me relax. I started to walk to Derek's house. I know where it was roughly but not the exact directions. Last time I got home from Derek's house, I made it home but after taking so many wrong turns.
There was still no luck. I couldn't spot a dark alley anywhere. How did John know they were going to target me or Derek? I swear if he is associated with The Bloods in any way I'm gonna kick his ass. I heard a quiet groan and I immediatly ran to where I heard it. I threw the cigarette on the ground. I knew I was going in the wrong direction because I couldn't hear anything anymore.
