Chapter 17

Chapter 17-Help is on its way

I heard police sirens blare in the distance. Everyone got up and started to grab their stuff.

"I don't think they will see us here." Said Cleo. We all agreed. I got a flashlight out of my bag and turned it on as I used it as a sign to show the police where we were. They all headed towards us.

"Is anyone there?" Yelled a policeman.

"YES!" We all screamed. The policemen appeared one by one and four paramedics behind them.

"Are you ok?" Said a policeman.

We all nodded our heads as a no.

"Right can you tell us what happened?" He said.

"Please we will but check my boyfriend first he is really badly injured." I said pleadingly. He nodded and told a paramedic to check him.

"We will have to take him to the hospital, his pulse is really low." Said the paramedic.

"Karina, you join him and we will come later." Said Jake.

"No." I said quickly. "You go, I am going to try to control Eve as she is really depressed. He nodded and then went towards the paramedic van to go to the hospital. I told the policeman everything and told him I saw the killer but he was hidden by as mask I didn't tell him it was Robert as they would think I was crazy if I told them a ghost killed them like that.

The policeman then went with his back up to the places we told them our friends bodies were. We watched as they brought the bodies of our friends and took them away.

"Johnny!" Yelled Eve. I gripped her but she ran to Johnny's body and screamed for him to wake up.

"Johnny, please get up." She yelled. "I can't live without you, I love you." I looked at her shocked, she loved him.

"Ma'am, please step away a from the van." Said the paramedic.

I held Eve back as the paramedic closed the door and the car drove away.

"Erm...miss." I looked at the man, it was a policeman.

"Yes..." I replied.

"We are going to go now. Come on I'll drop you off." I nodded and followed him to the car with Eve. She had calmed down and was falling asleep. I stared out the window and flashbacks of our previous moments here repeated in my mind. I eventually fell asleep.

"Miss...miss..wake up." I looked up and let my visions adjust.

"Huh?" I questioned.

"We're at your house." I looked at him. I helped Eve out after waking her and grabbed our stuff and knocked on the door.

"Can I..." My mum stopped mid-sentence when she saw me and Eve in a horrible state.

"I'll explain everything." Said the police officer. "They should get some rest." Mum looked at him and nodded. I helped Eve upstairs as she looked as though she would collapse any second and tucked her into bed. I then put her stuff to the side and sorted my clothes out and threw the dirty ones in the laundry basket. I then walked downstairs to make peanut butter and jelly sandwich and ate it. My mum was nowhere in sight and it looked as though the policeman was gone so I went to my bedroom again. I walked to the seating area near the window and fell asleep not bothering to change into my pjs.

*The next morning*

I woke up to see Eve not in the bed and the shower running, so I knew she was in there. I got up and rubbed my eyes. The shower stopped and someone walked into the room.

"Good morning." Said Eve.

"Good morning." I replied. She looked abit better today and more cheerful as though nothing happened yesterday, which freaked me out. I walked towards my closet and picked some underwear and bra. I then walked and picked a pink strapless top and some black denim jeans. I then walked into the bathroom and took a shower. I let the warm water take away all my stress and exhaustion.

After half an hour, I got out and changed as I walked into my bedroom to see it empty and Eve's stuff were gone. I walked downstairs to see my dad.

"Hello dad." I said as I gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Hello sweetie." He said. I sat near Eve and my mum placed a plate of fried eggs and bacon in front of me. I smiled at her and enjoyed my food.

"How are you feeling today, honey?" Said mum. I looked at her.

"Better than before." I said, but it was mainly a lie. She just nodded and cleaned the dishes.

"Well I have to go now, I'll be back in the evening. Come on Eve. I'll drop you off home on my way." Said dad. She got up and we gave each other a hug and she left. My mum went to take a nap as she wasn't resting properly since I had been away. I went to my room and decided to call Jake to ask about Josh.

"Hello." He said as he answered the phone.

"Hey Jake, it's me Karina." I said shyly.

"Hey Karina, you okay?"

"Yeah what about you?"

"Yeah."

"What about...Eve?" I took a deep breath as I heard her name.

"She...hasn't been taking your brothers death....well. But she is better today."

"Good." He took a breath.

"Em...how's...how's Josh?"

"He lost a lot of blood and they couldn't find his blood type but they finally did and he is better than before." I nodded my head even though he couldn't see.

"That's good."

"Why don't you come visit?" He blurted.

"NO!" I yelled. Realising what I said I quickly tried to cover it with a lie. "I mean....umm...my mum...wants me to run some errands...so I might not make it."

"Oh, alright." Said Jake suspiciously.

"Well I have to go." I said wanting to end this conversation.

"No wait." He said cutting me off from disconnecting the call. I waited for him to continue. "Erm...I nearly forgot to tell you that....Jasmine, Jordan and J-Johnny's funeral is next week and to please come."

"Next week?" I whispered.

"Yeah, I want everyone to get over the shock first and for Josh to get better so we all attend." I sighed and said.

"Ok."

"Great." He then cut the call. I threw the phone on the bed and leapt on top whilst screaming in my pillow. What will happen to Eve if she saw Johnny's body? How would I avoid Josh and keep my side of the deal? How did my life turn from perfect to not so perfect so quick? These questions bombarded my mind.
