Chapter 22- let's settle this once and for all
It had been two weeks that I had missed school and was returning again as I needed to get out of the house and have a distraction os some sort. It was the winters which is why I was wearing a black hoodie with black leggings and black ugg boots and had my hair in a messy bun. I watched as I saw the snowflakes fall on top of the roof of the school to make it look like a scene from a movie.
"Hello babe." I turned to see a overexcited Eve. I smiled.
"Hello."
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed." She mumbled, but I heard her.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean come on, the winter vacation is near and the school dance." I groaned. "Come on you should be excited about that and look for a date."
"Please, I don't really want to get into a relationship since the incident with Josh." She sighed.
"Look at me I've moved on and I was waiting for this day to go with Johnny." I smiled and sighed as she gave me the puppy dog eyes that I couldn't deny.
"Fine." I groaned.
"Yes!" She said as she jumped up and down. I smiled.
"Come on, let's get to class." I then walked off as she trailed after me and we made our way inside through the snow.
First period was Science with Mr Wood. We were learning about photosynthesis and revising for our final exams at the end of the year before we left school.
"Hey." I looked at Eve who was sat next to me and interrupted me writing out the method to my work.
"What?" I questioned irritated.
"Josh keeps looking at you." She whispered. I stared at her in shock why would he look at me after he said all those horrible things and said we should go our own way, but then again he sent a text as well saying if I wanted him back he would happily take me with his arms open. I looked at the back to see Eve's prediction was true and not false like I hoped. I turned around again and carried on working until I got interrupted again by my bestie.
"That is so sweet, why don't you just take him back?" She asked. I looked at her with a glare.
"Eve, please." She looked at me about o say something but quickly shut up when I gave her a hard glare.
"Sorry." She mumbled and then didn't utter another word until the end of the lesson.
The bell rang and we all exited out and went outside as it was break now and talked until we heard someone call Eve. It was Jake, oh god I haven't talked to him since our last encounter.
"Hey." Said Eve. "What's up?" He looked at me and then back at Eve and said.
"Can you please come....shopping with me to find a tux?" He asked nervously. Eve looked at him and laughed.
"OMG, no ways I have a lot of things to do and you aren't supposed to take me to do that." She said. His face fell and he sighed.
"Fine, I'll ask Josh." Eve gasped and we both looked at her.
"No, I just remembered you can take Karina, it's not like she has anything to do anyways, isn't that right?" She looked at me pleadingly. Oh no, what was I going to do.
"Well....I....I....I um....."
"Perfect," said Eve cutting me off mid-sentence. "She has agreed."
"No, it's fine I can go with someone else or maybe Josh." Said Jake as he glared at Karina.
"Fine, I won't go to the dance with you." She joked. He looked at her horrified.
"What?"
"You heard me." She said. "Anyone who doesn't get along with my best friend I don't get along with them." She crossed her arms and huffed like a ten year old child.
"Fine, whatever." Said Jake as he walked away and Eve screamed in joy.
"You didn't have to do that Eve." I said.
"Do what?" She said playing innocent but I wasn't going to be fooled for it.
"Forcing him to take me with him shopping." I said.
"I'm sorry." She said. "But I wanted to sort everything out and make life the way it was before the incident." I looked at her and pulled her into a hug which she returned after getting out of her little shock of my reaction.
"Thank you." I whispered. She pulled back and looked at me.
"You don't need to say that, that's what friends are for." I smiled and hugged her again which she returned.
"Come on." She said after our little moment. "We have two weeks left till the dance and we still haven't got any dresses and we need to find a date for you as well." I groaned.
"Do we have to, I would rather go alone to the dance." She looked at me and narrowed her eyebrows.
"Yes we have to and no ways I wouldn't want to enjoy the dance knowing my best friend is bored and alone in one corner watching us all have fun." I sighed and knew she had a point so I agreed.
"Fine." She screeched which made me wince and her apologise then we burst out laughing and talked about what we needed to buy and do before the dance as we made our way to third period.
