Chapter 27

Chapter 27- Let's do this

The next day I woke up, this was the day we were to go to Roberts house. I took a quick shower and put on my undergarments. I then grabbed a white tank top and blue jeans. I applied minimal make up after wearing my clothes and brushed my hair and grabbed some stuff I packed and went downstairs. I had slept during the day, it was now 6pm and we were going to meet in Roberts back yard seeing as his front door was locked and bolted shut. I grabbed some lasagne that my mum laid out for me and scoffed it all in a second.

"Bye mum." I yelled.

"Bye sweetie, have a nice sleepover with eve." She yelled bake.

"I will." With that I walked out and walked down my driveway. I lied to my mum that I was staying at Eve's for a sleepover, she didn't mind seeing as it was the weekends.

I reached Roberts backyard and saw eve, josh and jake there waiting.

"Hey." I said.

"Hey." They all said in unison. We then all set off to work and walked to the back door. Josh twisted the doorknob but unfortunately it was locked.

"Shit," he said. "It's locked." We all groaned.

"Try the windows." I said. So we did and luckily one of them was opened. We all climbed inside one by one and looked around in astonishment. It was like any other house you would see in movies with cobwebs and dust everywhere. The floorboards creaked as well all stepped on them seeming as though we would all fall down any second through it.

"Woah, I feel like I'm in a movie." Said eve as she chuckled and we all rolled our eyes. We then walked further on. Where the hell was Robert?

"I don't think anything would be downstairs." Said josh.

"There might be." Said jake. I nodded. "Let's do this, me and eve will search downstairs and you and Karina should check upstairs."

"Yeah, we should do that." I said. Josh nodded and we all then split up and decided to meet before sunset and sleep after that.

Me and josh walked down the hallway and found the staircase leading upstairs. We walked upstairs and the steps creaked as well underneath us, the paint from the wall was peeling off, it seemed as though this house was not used since a very long time.

Once, we reached the top I wasn't looking and accidentally bumped into josh who had stopped at the top.

"Sorry." I mumbled embarrassed as he looked back at me.

"It's alright." He said smiling.

"Are you ok?" He asked after a moment of silence.

"I'm fine, just a bit scared." I said nervously. "What...what if I...die?"

"Hey," said josh. "Listen I won't let anything happen to you, ok." I nodded. "Come on." With that we both walked away. We walked down the hallway looking for Roberts room.

"I think we should check them all." I said.

"That would take forever." Said josh.

"Wait." I said as I recalled something. "Roberts room is opposite to mine, so it's the last one at the end of the hall."

"Are you sure?" Asked josh. I nodded. "Well, then let's go."

We reached the room and josh opened the door. Sadly, it creaked.

"Is he in there?" I asked clinging on to josh. He looked in and then sighed.

"No." I sighed as well and then we walked inside. The room had a foul stench to it like kerosene and like a dead corpse was here.

"Oh my god!" I said as me and josh covered our noses. "That smells so bad."

"Come on, we need to search everywhere." He said. We searched everywhere in the drawers and the closet, literally everywhere. I then searched under the bed and screamed at the scene before me. It was a dead corpse of....Robert.

"What's happened?" Asked josh as he ran beside me. I pointed and shook my head.

"Oh my god!" He said as he stepped back and looked at me, his face reading the same expression as mine. "We should go." With that we both ran out of the room and made our way downstairs.

"JAKE, EVE?!!" Both me and josh yelled. Our friends came out of the living room and stared at us in shock as we both had a very frightened expression on our faces that was already scaring eve and jake.

"What's wrong?" Asked jake.

"Robert...he's.....upstairs.....corpse." I stuttered. They gave me confused looks.

"Repeat." Said eve.

"Roberts corpse is upstairs." Said josh all in one breath. They both looked at me and josh and then had the same expressions as us.

"Are you sure?" Asked jake. I nodded.

"It was right under the bed, someone must have left it there to rot. It also stinks of burned flesh as well up there." I said, grimacing at the memory.

"We should leave from here, before its too late." Said eve, you could tell she was getting creeped out and wanted to get as far away from here as possible.

"I agree." I said, as I didn't want to find out anymore what he wanted. Josh and jake nodded. So we made our way to the kitchen and walked back to the window that we had climbed out of, but something was wrong the window wasn't opening up anymore.

"Who shut it?" Asked josh. We all shrugged and looked at each other.

"I clearly remember leaving it open." Said jake as he was the last one to come out.

"Just pull harder." I said. We all tried pulling it and trying to get it open as faster and best as we could but it was no use, it wouldn't budge.

"Oh no," Said a familiar voice behind us that made the hair on the back of our neck stand up and gave us shiver and goosebumps.

"Is the window not opening?"
