"I think you should work a little more on your crying. That scene was amazing though. I can't wait to see you on the big screens!"
"Thanks, Mrs.Alma! And I'll try to improve the tears. I guess I just don't have enough sad things in my life to think about when I tear up."
"Practice makes perfect, Olivia. Have your parents contacted Ashley yet?" Mrs.Alma asks me, and I nod my head.
"Yes, they did. Everything is in the green light at the moment, and the prices for her are pretty affordable." I tell her, and her smile grows wider.
"Oh, I just knew you'd go! I promise you, I will watch every movie and show you go to."
"Well, you might get to do that soon. I auditioned for the part of Alice in that one movie, Dreamers? Not the leading role, but still a good start." I tell her, and she calls her hands in excitement.
"That's great! Well, I'll see you tomorrow, right after school. This play isn't going to shape itself!" Mrs.Alma gives me a hug and we say our goodbyes, before I exit through the back door, and look for Amber's car.
I notice the red vehicle almost instantly, and walk over, my book bag feeling like weights.
"Get in, it's freezing outside!" Amber tells me, and I jump into her car quickly, shutting the door once I'm inside.
"You would think it would be warmer by now. It's March!" As Amber is complaining, I check my phone to find a text from Shawn, telling me his room number.
"By the way, you never told me about the movie date. How was it?" Amber asks, and I shrug.
"It was okay, I guess. I mean, he's not really my type, but if he asked me again I'd say yes out of pity." The lies come out of my mouth without hesitation, and Amber nods her head in approval.
Suddenly, I hear my phone ringing, and answer it without checking the caller ID.
"My life is over. He has a girlfriend! What am I supposed to do?"
"Who does?" I ask, after recognizing the voice as Nora.
"Shawn! The pictures are all over Twitter, I'm done with life!"
"Send them to me." I say, a little curious. However, I knew that it was all just some rumors, since this happens every other week.
"Will do. Are you on your way home?" Nora asks me.
"I'm in the car with Amber right now, but we're stopping somewhere to eat." I tell her, since it was 5:45 pm and I had skipped lunch to work on a school project.
"Okay, be home by eight, or I'm going to feed you expired mayonnaise. Bye!" Nora tells me, and ends the call.
"I have to be home by eight, according to Nora." I tell Amber.
"Then at eight you'll be home. Anyways, do you want to try out that new restaurant that just opened? I hear they have all you can eat." Amber tells me, and I nod my head in approval.
"All you can eat? Count me in."
______
"That? Was delicious." Amber says, as we both walk to the car.
"I feel seven months pregnant, I at so much." I groan, despite the fact that the food came straight from heaven.
"Next time we're bringing Adam with us, and he can test some of his one liners on the ladies there while stuffing his face." Amber tells me and I nod in approval.
We talk about numerous things in the car ride, and soon we're parked in front of my house. I say goodbye, and get out of the car, then opening the door to my house.
"I'm home!" I yell.
"Glad you could check in. Are you going to Amber's tonight?" My mom asks, and I raise my eyebrows.
"Yeah?" I tell her, wondering how she knew that was what I was going to say.
"Don't be late! I want you home by eleven. And tell her mom I said the cookies were great!"
I shrug off how strange that was, and reach for my phone, rechecking the text that Shawn sent me, and making sure the hotel room I was about to go to was the one that he texted me.
When I enter the hotel, the lobby is empty, and the only thing I can hear is my footsteps. I admire the strange paintings and sculptures in the lobby for a moment, then snapping myself out of the trance and walking to the elevator.
I press his floor number, and the second the doors shut, I feel a strange feeling in my stomach. I wasn't nervous, though. It was just Shawn.
I exit the elevator and start walking over to his room, looking at each and every room number I pass. My stomach twists and turns and I bite my lip, rethinking the decision.
I snap out of it and continue to walk towards his room, staring at the carpet pattern now. I look up when I start to hear muffled voices, and raise my eyebrows at the room it was coming from.
Shawn's.
"I don't think you understand. You have one month, and then you're gone. You won't ever see your Juliet again, and you'll continue your life, never even hearing about her again. Maybe my mind would be set another way if she was famous too, but she isn't. She's a nobody, and will always be a nobody. And you aren't going to date a nobody. I want this nonsense over with, am I clear? Sure, you can fool around with her for the month, maybe get the press to come around and take some pictures that don't show her face, but that's it. Am I clear?"
The feeling was back in my stomach again, and my eyes started to sting. I blinked away the tears and stood in front of the door, waiting for Shawn to say something back to the guy. To tell him he was wrong.
"Yes, you're clear." Is the only thing that comes out of his mouth.
The door swings open and I make eye contact with a grown man, a sour look on his face.
"Can I help you?" He asks rudely, and I shake my head.
"Sorry," I tell him, surprising myself with how normal my voice sounded. "I must be at the wrong room. This isn't 807, is it?" I ask, and he shakes his head.
"It's down one floor." Is all he says, before walking away, leaving the door open. I watch as Shawn has his head in his hands, sitting on the bed.
The moment we make eye contact is the moment I run.
