A few weeks later...
My things were all moved into my house. It was so cute and just the right size for Dalton and I. I hardly ever see Connor and Courtney, nor talk to them. I do see Hope and talk to her though, but she's been busy with the twins. I was busy cleaning things around the house when my phone went off.
Reminder: Dad
I was hanging out with my dad today. He's been better, I mean, he's working on it. I asked if Gray and Dalton could come. Only because I haven't been around my dad in years, and I don't want him to like pull a gun out on me.
So, Gray's only here for my protection, and to not bring any suspicion, Dalton came too. I went to go pick then up at his apartment. Dalton was watching from the balcony, and they were in the car in a flash.
"You look nice", Gray says as he gets in.
I shrug, "So do you."
I mean, he did, really. He wore his nice pair of skinny jeans, and a red button down shirt, the sleeves going to his elbows. Dalton was playing with his plastic T-Rex in the back seat. I don't think he knew where we were going.
It was quiet the whole car ride, except Dalton making cute dinosuar noises. What if him and I can never have a normal relationship? They made us believe he was dead, and no one ever told us the truth.
"Okay, we are here", I huff.
Gray side smiles at me, getting out, and getting Dalton. I grab everything I needed and put my phone in my back jean pocket. We towards the playground, until I saw my dad.
"I'm right here if you need me", Gray whispers, walking away as Dalton has his hand, running towards the playground.
I walk towards my dad, with a smile on my face, "Hey!"
He smiles, "Hey! How are you?"
I shrug, "Been better, you?"
He shrugs, "Better every day."
I grin, "That's great."
We walked towards a bench under the shade, and sat down. I crossed my legs, looking down.
Dad leaned back, his arms on the bench, one arm around me, "Dalton looks just like Gray."
I laugh, "Thank you! People keep saying he looks like me! But I don't see it!"
He laughed. Gray looked at me and I smiled and winked. I look back at my father, but he isn't paying attention to me. He's just staring straight ahead, watching something.
"What's wrong?" I ask, scrunching my eyebrows together.
He jerked his head forward a little. I turn, seeing Gray arguing with Connor, Dalton(luckily) playing on the slide on the other side, and Courtney holding Connor's hoodie's sleeve. I get up running up to them.
"What's going on?" I yell, growling.
I smelled alcohol, but it wasn't Gray. It wasn't super strong, but moms have good noses and it was there.
Connor glared at Gray, "Your boyfriend here, is being your boyfriend."
Courtney shrugs, "We were just simply walking around the park."
I glare at her then look at Gray, who was furiously glaring at Connor. I push Connor away with my hand in the middle of his chest. He looks down at my hand, then at me, which it felt like he did it so slowly, but it was a quick moment. He doesn't smell either. Someone smells like it, and if Courtney and Connor went somewhere with alcohol, he would smell too.
"Just..go", I quietly push the words out of my mouth.
He looks at me sadly, walking away. Courtney whipped her head, still glaring at me, her stomach starting to get a baby bump. Right after they were out of sight, I pulled Gray closer to me, smelling his shirt.
"What are you doing?" He asks.
"You don't smell like alcohol. Like at all." I smell myself. Nope.
I gasp, "I have to call Hope."
I kiss his cheek, "I'll be back!"
I run to my dad, giving him a quick tight hug, then kiss his cheek, "I have a mystery to solve!"
And I ran to my car.
"HOOOOOOOOOOPE!" I growl into the phone.
"Yes? Kinda busy here Chris..." She says calmly into the phone, sighing.
"What are you doing?" I ask, more in control.
"Doing bridal things. Courtney and Connor just got here like three minutes ago. Why?"
I shook my head, "I need you to tell me right when they leave, okay? I'll fill you in later."
"Uhm....Okay", she hung up confusedly.
I speed to Connor's place. They lived in an apartment complex close to Grove. They were almost done with the complex before I left, this is where I was suppose to live. I check above the door frame for a key. Not there. I look under their welcome mat, feeling a little silver, pink polka-dotted metal key. Classic. I quickly get out of my car, running up three flights of floors.
I take a deep breath in, unlocking the door, walking in. I shut the door quickly. I take a deep breath in, unlocking the door, walking in. I shut the door quickly. I run to their room. It was really nice here. Nicer than I expected. Everything was clean, and in place. I picked up one of Connor's shirts that was on the couch, that seemed to be thrown. No smell? Maybe I'm going crazy?
I look around, kicking dirty laundry, and peeking through draws. Before I could do more digging, my phone started ringing.
"Hello?"
"I don't know how long ago they left. But they're gone."
I hung up the phone, running out. Luckily, they weren't here yet. I lock the door, and hear Courtney giggle downstairs. I keep my breathing quiet, as they get closer and closer. I hide the key under the matt, and ran up to the next floor.
"Just one more time! Maybe we'll even get lucky and have twins", Courtney says as they walk up to their door.
"Courtney....I don't want too", Connor sighs.
"Connor.. It won't affect the baby. I'm barely showing."
They were quiet for a moment, then I heard a door shut. My heart raced and I zoomed out back to my car. Once I hit the road, I called Hope.
"Are you going to tell me whats up?" She spoke over the Bluetooth in my car.
"I don't think Courtney's pregnant", I say while I drive away.
Hope sighs into the phone, "Well, that was a short pregnancy...What are you going to do?"
"I don't know. I don't have any proof."
"Hmm....."
It was silent for a minute.
We don't have any proof. Her clothes smelling like alcohol can be proven wrong. It had to be her.
"Well...Since I'm the maid of honor.... Meet me at my place. Now. I have an idea."
"That was quick, but okay... See you there", I pressed a small button on my mirror to hang up the phone.
She only lived five minutes from Connor's place. Her neighborhood was seriously down the road. I pull into the huge, fancy, rich houses you wish you could live in. She had white boards, and windows everywhere, her flowerbed blooming. Pretty.I walk up to her curvy pathway, and she opens the door right before I got a chance to knock.
"C'mon! C'mon!" She waves me in, then yanks me inside.
"First off, I hate to say this, but Courtney told Connor and I both you aren't invited to the wedding."
"Um.. okay. So what's your big plan?"
"Well....", and she tells me her brilliant, idea.
