Patients, like, patience. Anyone recognize the wording? Patience, young Warlock...

Will is still gripping onto my wrist. Why? I subconsciously think.

"Geez, Death Boy, you are freezing!" He notes, still pulling me along. I roll my eyes.

"Then let go. Easy, isn't it?" Will sheepishly uncurls his hand from my wrist as we come to the end of a hallway.

"Now, I've got only a few patients today, so I'll show you what to do for those, and after I'll give you a better run through." He says, light pink still dusting his cheekbones. I nod. Gently opening up a curtain to the side of us, the first patient turns out to be one of the younger demigods, a daughter of Hecate.

Light green colored eyes, darkened skin, a shock of onyx hair, and looks to be about nine. The curiously-featured girl looks at me like I'm the one with off-colored characteristics. Surprisingly, she doesn't even take heed of Will trying to talk to her and just stares at me. I gave a small wave and a ghost of a smile to show that I'm friendly.

The girl waves back. Will, noticing the weird silence passing between us, raises his eyebrows up at me. Shrugging in his direction, I go over to the other side of the cot and kneel down.

"Hello, my name is Nico. What's your name?" The green-eyed girl nods.

"I know. You're a son of Hades. I'm Meena. I've been having nightmares. All Hecate children do. But it goes away." Meena's voice was very matter-of-fact, and determined for such a small girl.

"Alright Meena, Will here needs to do some tests to make sure you're doing well, okay? Don't worry, he's really good at his job." I can see Will look down and blush. How adora- Stop! The resolute girl nods once more.

"Good." Smiling, I gesture to Will that he's okay to proceed with the tests.

While he works, Will shows me how to use all of the equipment, and I also make sure Meena isn't freaked out. It was strange working with him. Mainly because he seemed to know anything and everything there is to know about medical science, and all of the technical terms, and was talking to me through it all. Also because he treated me like an actual human being. Not like I was death and despair, but like an actual human being.

It felt nice.

After Will was done checking on Meena, we went to another patient. But Will didn't open up the curtain right as we got there. He looked at me with puzzlement.

"How did you," Will shook his head, "She doesn't usually respond to anyone. Even though she's only nine, Meena happens to be an expert in traumatic experiences, and doesn't like to talk to us." He smiled and I'm sure he could power the camp for millennia off of his million-watt grin.

"Good job, Death Boy." Smirking at my look of annoyance, he winks, and opens up the next curtain.

Will's next patient wasn't so keen on having me help him out. A son of Aphrodite, he eyed me warily as I walk towards the cot. Will, noticing his distrust, tried to relieve the situation by explaining why I was there.

"Don't worry, Mason, Nico is going to be helping me out here. I'm just showing him what I do on a daily basis." In a low undertone, so that only Mason could hear (which failed, as I heard it loud and clear), "I trust him. He's my friend." A fluttering of resurrected skeleton butterflies exploded in my chest.

Mason huffed, flipping his brown bangs out of his eyes. He might've been cute, deep brown eyes, dark skin, except for the terrible temperament.

"Whatever, just stay away from me," He replied, shooting a withering look in my direction and leaning back on the headboard. Will worked silently, obviously distressed, while I watched on awkwardly. Will looked tense. Clipped answers were all he gave Mason, who seemed to be getting annoyed at his lack of response.

"Alright Mason, I'll be back later on, to check your vitals." Will said, emotionless, and without the chipper mood he was in earlier.

As we went on to another patient, I happened to be the first to make physical contact. I shot out and grabbed his shoulder, it was warm and filled me with a cozy feeling.

"Will, what was that?" He looked at me innocently. "Don't you dare, you know exactly what I'm talking about." He sighed.

"I know, I know. I'm not supposed to act that way towards my patients, but really, I can't let anyone treat you like that."

I cocked an eyebrow. "Never knew you cared." Will turned scarlet. How pretty... Stop it, Nico! Picking at my shirt hem, I continued, "Still, people don't like me. It's a well-known fact. Nobody wants death and despair working at a place where they're trying to cure people from exactly that." Swiveling my eyes up to meet his bright blue ones, I sighed.

"Don't worry about it. I'm used to it. Just help the next patient, and don't worry if they don't like me."

Will put on his game face, flashed me a smile, and then opened up the curtain to the next patient.
