Nico looks so angelic when he's sleeping. His last name completely fits him. He's named literally 'Nico of Angel', how lucky do you have to be to get such a fitting last name?

After "accidentally" staring at him sleeping for what seemed like 5 minutes, I reluctantly had to wake Nico up to check his vitals.

Staring up at me with his dark chocolate eyes, he questions when I can release him. I sigh and roll my own.
Unfortunately, he seems to be alright, but I'm not going to tell him that.

"I said three days. It hasn't been three days yet." I reply in a sing-songy voice. "Only one. Besides, I need to make sure your stitches don't act up."

Glaring at the wall, he sighs dramatically and flops back down onto the pillow set behind his head. "You're a drama queen," I mutter as Nico's eyes flash. "You're stuck with me for 2 more days, good luck." I call, walking out of his room, whistling.

Going to help my other patients, I pass by my sister, Kayla, as she's getting some supplies. She grabs my wrist as I walk by and pulls me into the hall outside of a supply closet.

"Okay, spill." She deadpanned in a gossipy way.

"What?"

"You know precisely what I mean, William Solace," glaring at me with a playful expression in her brown eyes, she continued, "Nico is obviously fine, so why are you keeping him here?" My face unwillingly turned crimson.

"How do you know I'm making him stay?"

"I didn't, now I do." At least my half-sister had the grace to blush.

"Wait, don't tell me, let me guess." Kayla pondered thoughtfully. Her face then lit up, green hair matching her mischievous attitude.

"William Solace, you totally like him! Don't you?" A crazed look appeared in her eyes.

"Kayla, you need to calm down. I have to go help my other patients now." I backed away slowly, trying to escape her clutches.

"Nope, don't. I'm taking all of your other patients. Go help lover boy of yours." She replied, winking flirtatiously, and pushing me over to Nico's door.

"But-but I'm Head Doctor!" I yelled, trying to convince her to not to do what I thought she was going to do.

"And I'm your sibling. Are we done naming pointless facts?" Opening the door knob while simultaneously keeping me in place, she pushed me in. I heard a lock come from outside.

Sighing, I turned around to see a very disturbed looking Nico, raising questioning eyebrows as to what all that was about. I slumped down onto the floor in answer..

"Good gods," Nico mused, watching me from the bed, "Sister of yours?"

I laughed, rolling my eyes. "She's insane, but I love her."

"Kinda like Hazel," he muttered quietly, "My half-sister." Nico added, noticing the confused look I gave.

"So," said I, unsure of how to start a conversation.

"So.." He parroted, picking the bed sheet, avoiding my eyes.

"This is awkward," I blurted out, without thinking, "Gods, sorry. I tend to make everything awkward.. Ah, ho-how about I just check your vitals.."

"Gods, Will, you are hopeless," I muttered under my breath, getting up from the floor. Not quiet enough apparently, because Nico started to chuckle at my words. A cute laugh it was actually, not harsh, but gentle. Like a kitten, but I know I'd get murdered if I told him that.

"Pull up your sleeves, please. I need to check the stitches." Nico complied.

The stitches were all well and nothing was acting up. I know he's completely fine, but I'll admit it, I'm selfish.

"Hey-I-know-people-probably-don't-want-the-son-of-death-being-around-them-in-a-hospital-but-I-was-hoping-you-would-let-me-help-out-while-I-am-stuck-here-because-I'm-ultra-bored-and-remember-how-you-said-you-needed-some-help-around-here?" Nico said rapid fire, startling me, and by the looks of it, himself as well.

"Yeah, ye-yeah. Of course. You can help me with my patients! If that's all good with you.." I stammered out. He smiled and I'm sure my heart stopped in my chest. His smile and laugh were just the cutest, most amazing things to ever grace this planet, and I had the oddest sensation of protectiveness come over me.

"But, well, we need to figure out how to unlock the door. Kayla, uh, sorta, locked us in." I fingered the edge of my scrubs, embarrassed.

"Don't worry, Sunshine, I know a way." Said Nico, who smiled again, this time, in a mischievous way.

In 10 seconds flat, he bounded out of the bed, leaped over to his bag of stuff, and whipped out a small pencil case. Opening the pencil case, I saw it was most definitely not pencils that it held.

Lock picks.

"So, what you are showing here, is that all that time, you could manage to get out, even if I locked you in?" I said, bewildered. Nico looked warily at me in response, already almost done with the job.

"I mean, yes, but I've no idea why you would want to lock the door." He replied and I blushed as some occasions came to mind.

With a quiet click! we were set free. "Gods, teach me that sometime, will you?" Nico laughed again.

Spotting the back of Kayla's head, I grab his wrist and yanked him into the conveniently placed supply closet to our left. Can't have her see us, she'll just go insane again. It was utterly dark and I could hear Nico's breathing, I obviously startled him.

"Kayla, she'll freak if she knows we got out." I whispered.

His head knocked into my chest, and I realized he tried to nod. How short and adorable. Nico jumped back, and as he did so, I noticed I was still clutching his wrist. Awkwardly letting it go, I rested my ear against the door, and tried to hear sounds of life in the Infirmary.

Nothing.

Poking my head out, trying (and so obviously failing), to look unsuspicious, I slowly took one step out the closet, then another. It looked like the coast was clear, so I walked out fully, and motioned for Nico to do the same.

Brushing off my scrubs, and taking a resolving sigh, I lifted up my chin and put on my game face. Everyday I walk into this makeshift hospital, I know I may not be able to save someone. I may mess up. It's part of life, dying. Everyone dies. Just hopefully not today.

Giggles came from behind Nico and I. Fuuuuuu- I turned around to see Kayla looking between the two of us like a madwoman.

"You do realize, you two literally just came out of the closet." She said calmly, after a moment.

"Alright Kayla, you can stop scaring Nico," I said, glancing at his paler than usual face. "And also, don't lock me in a room, okay?"

"I have patients to get to and so do you. Come on, Nico!" Turning and grabbing his wrist once more, obviously startling him again, I steered him away from my deranged sibling, and down the hall to my section of the Infirmary.
