~Nico
I turned towards Kayla, who was panting from her sprint, eyes wide with shock. "What - just - happened?" I didn't know whether to be sad or angry or confused.
"I..." She faltered, still staring after Will, "I don't even know." Turning towards me, she sympathized, "Nico, I'm sorry."
I just shrugged in her direction and turned around to go back to my cabin. "Looks like my Prince Charming isn't so charming after all." I called from my shoulder.
"Don't be like that! It'll work out.." I pretended like I didn't hear the "eventually" in her sentence.
I didn't wait around to hear any more floundering attempts to raise my mood. I stormed across Camp, and I got a strange sense of nostalgia as people moved out of my way. Just like old times. Leaning against my cabin's door, I pushed my way through, shut the door with my foot, and face-planted into my bed.
I groaned into my covers. For some strange reason, I felt that if I kept groaning, I would feel better. It didn't work.
Flipping over so my back was against my comforter, I stared at the ceiling. It was just slabs of wood, like the rest of the cabin. I tried to follow the lines and chipping in it. I must've been distracted for a while, because when I lifted my head to look out the window, the sun was setting.
A yelling Hazel Levesque burst into the room. Her yelling was wordless but exasperated. When she finally managed to form coherent sentences, she was glaring at me. I sat up to look questioningly at the brunette.
"I am your younger sister so why do I feel like your mom?! Would you take care of yourself for once?" An accusing finger was pointed in my direction, and I gulped.
"What did I do now?" I was genuinely confused, but Hazel took it for playing dumb.
"You know exactly what, young man. Go kiss William Solace because I'm done watching you suffer and mope! It's exhausting and I'm tired of it!" Her liquid gold eyes were daggers, striking right into my heart.
Realization struck. "You talked to Kayla, didn't you?"
"You bet I did! Now get out of this cabin and fix your sorry excuse of a love life." I could tell she was two seconds from dragging me out herself.
I groaned again for good measure. "Will you stop yelling? I thought you were the sweet, little girl, who fanned her face when uncomfortable. And why is everyone so concerned about my relationships and lack of them?" Nevertheless, I stood up slowly.
Hazel stuck her nose in the air and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "I am that sweet, little girl, but when annoyed I will do something about it. Everyone is so concerned because we're concerned about you! Kayla doesn't want her brother to be with that slimeball, and I'm sick of your whining!"
I walked over to her, and mimicked her stance. "Fair enough." I looked down at her (thank god for the few extra inches), and grinned. "That still won't make me do anything."
She glared up at me. "Oh, yes, it will." She grabbed my wrist and all but yanked me out of the dark cabin.
