The Loss

I'm bored, in my room, reading. Everyone went away on the Lacrosse trip. I can tell this is gonna be a long weekend..

I hear a knock at my door.

It's Kali.

"What do you want?"

"Look, Cass, I know we're not on the best of terms right now but your Dad felt that I should talk to you.."

"About what?"

"Uh, your Uncle Ennis."

I look up at her, "What about Uncle Ennis?"

"He's in the hospital, in critical condition.."

"What?! What happened? Can I go see him?!"

Oh my god, Ethan is also away on the Lacrosse trip..

"He fell at work, on the construction site.."

With tears in my eyes I ask again, "When can i see him Kali?"

"Your father thinks it may not be best for you to see Ennis right now."

"What the hell do you mean it may not be best?! My Uncle is hurt Kali!" I begin to cry even harder.

"I'm really sorry Cass.."

She tries to wrap her arm around me but i push her off.

"Get out. NOW!"

She glances at me and quickly leaves the room, I slam my door as i continue to bawl my eyes out.

Ennis is like my second father since my Dad is never around, what would I do without him? Why the hell can't I even see him?

I decide that I am going to go to the hospital to see Ennis regardless of what my Dad says. I'll just ask Ms.McCall to tell me the room number..

I'm sitting in my car outside of the hospital, looking at myself in the mirror I'm fully aware that I look like shit.

Sighing, I get out and make my way inside.

Ms.McCall is at the front desk, good.

"Hello Ms.McCall,"

"Oh, Hi Cassandra, what can I help you with?"

"Um, I was wondering if you could tell me my Uncle's room number here? He got into an accident last night.."

"Your Uncle?"

"Yes, his name is Ennis. Ennis Lykos."

She sifts through a couple of papers.

"Lykos you said? We have no one under that name here, are you sure he's at this hospital?"

"This is the only one he would be at," I say, confused.

"Well, we have no record of him. Ask your Dad about it, or perhaps he has been checked out already."

"Okay, thanks Ms. McCall"

That's weird, if Uncle Ennis is in critical condition there is no way he could be checked out already. Why wouldn't he be at this hospital if it's the closest?

I text Aiden, "Where are you?"

"Just left Dad, going home."

I glance around the hospital parking lot, there's no way I wouldn't see him.

"Which hospital? Dad says i can't see him." I text back.

"Beacon Hills, and I know. Sorry."

Something is definitely up and I'm going to find out what it is.
