Decomposing Feelings

Chapter 14

Selena, "I saw my mother holding the doll in her hand, same as me. She was standing right there in front of me but she couldn't see me. I kept calling her out but my voice wasn't reaching out to her. This happened many times again, every time she used to hold the doll I could feel her and even hear her thoughts, how broken she was within and how much she missed me. I did not give up on calling out to her, and with time it happened, my voice reached out to her. She responded to my calling.

Selena's mother, "Selena is that you sweetheart."

Selena, "yes, it is me mother."

Selena's mother (tears rolling down her cheek but in happiness), "where are you baby girl, why can't I see you." In the excitement of hearing her daughter she dropped the doll from her hand and the connection that they had established was lost.

I kept calling out to her asking her to pick up the doll again but she was unaware of this, I was loosing herself to find me. I followed her everywhere she went, making all possible attempts to make contact with her but nothing happened. Something else did, my mother was at my grave, I was only looking at her, when the prince came and stood next to me.

Prince, "it is forbidden to speak with the living."

Selena, "leave me alone."

Prince, "I have never been so patient with anyone, I gave you enough time to get used to the circumstances but looks like you have not used it well."

Selena, "I don't want to stay here, I just want to go back to my mother, can't you see how sad she is without me."

Prince, "I have seen many weep for their dead, mothers, daughters, sons, fathers. More then you can ever imagine but what can anyone do about it. There is no way, no place for you in the living world. This is your world forever now, here by my side."

Selena, "why are you doing this to me, I will do anything that you want, only let me return for just one day. Let me sorry to my mother for the mistake I made in giving up."

Prince, "all I want from you is to stay here with me, happy and rule by my side."

Selena, "I promise I will, only let me return just for a day."

Prince, "do you know how many days it has been that you have been dead?"

Selena, "feels like many years."

Prince, "it is the third day according to the world of the living. For many years are just like a day and a day many years, here is the sprite world. Your body has already started to decompose. Would you still like to return for a day?"

Selena, "if you can help me return, you have my word, I will spend the eternity here with you."

Prince, "go then."
