The drive to the bonfire was a long one. Jace said that it was far out in the woods that way no one would complain about the loud music. Jace and I didn't talk very much on the way there. He asked me about my family before the foster home, and I told him I don't remember much; and I really don't. I remember some things, like Christmas when I was little; but I don't remember any big things about my life. It's like I forgot everything before my time at the foster home.

"We're here," Jace said parking his jeep next to a bunch of other cars.

Even from a mile away I could hear the music. We had to walk a little ways to get to the clearing; and when we got there it was packed with people I didn't know and I suddenly became a little shy. I walked closer to Jace; he noticed my sudden shyness and put an arm around me.

"Don't worry. I'll be with you the whole time," He assured me.

"Jace!" A guy yelled walking over with some girl with brown hair.

The girl was fairly shorter than the girl. The guy was built and handsome, the girl was skinny, but I could tell by the way she walked that she was a werewolf. Her physic was slender but strong. From the way that they happily walked together hand in hand, I could see they were mates.

"Hey Derek. Guys this is Addie. Addie this is Derek and Rylee," Jace said looking between Rylee and me.

Rylee looked at me, and checked me out before smiling and grabbing my hand lightly, "Come on. I need someone to drink with besides my over attentive mate."

Derek rolled his eyes and kissed her once on the lips, "I'm only looking out for you babe and you know it. Go make a friend."

Rylee then dragged me away from Jace and Derek. When I turned back around to look, they were deep in conversation. I had no choice but to follow Rylee over to the cooler filled with beer. She grabbed one and handed it to me before taking me over closer to the huge fire where she started pointing out different people.

"That's Beck. He used to be..Lia's mate. Did anyone ever tell you that story by the way?" She asked me quietly.

"No. I heard you two were best friends, " I replied.

Rylee nodded and stared into the fire, "Lia and I had been best friends since we were little. It was Chase, Beck, Lia, and I. We had the best time of our lives growing up. Lia was different from the rest of us though. We didn't know it at the time, but she was. One night, Chase and I followed Lia and Beck to the pack house. We weren't supposed to see them, we weren't even supposed to know. At the time, we thought Lia was Beck's mate. Everyone was sure of it, even the fates had made it well known. But for some reason when she shifted, the fates switched her mates and gave her Alec. Beck was furious, but now he has his own mate. Alec and Lia were only together for about a month, but I had never seen two people be that perfect for each other.

"Somewhere along the way we found out that Chase was a spy sent by the Hunters. It was the worst thing in the world for Lia and I. We lost someone we thought was our family. We spent most of our time running away from the Hunters. We thought we were gonna win the war, and we did. But...Lia didn't make it. Alec was devastated and didn't talk to anyone but Derek and I for months. Even now, he still wont even look at another girl because he says it would be disrespectful to Lia. He really did love her and they would have been the perfect mates if...you know." Rylee finished telling her story and when I looked over there were several tears streaming down her face. I put a hand on her shoulder and that seemed to shake her our of her faze.

"Sorry. I miss her a lot you know. She's always been my sister. Everytime I think about that day, it just makes me feel bad. But anyway, so did you see any cute guys when you came?" She said poking me in the arm.
