Most of the party was spent with me checking over my shoulder every five minutes because Alec was constantly staring at me. Rylee and Derek didn't notice, but they did notice me being a bit distracted.
"Addie, are you okay? You seem a little out of it," Rylee said putting her hand on my arm.
I looked at her and smiled, "Yeah I'm fine! Just feeling a bit tired. I'm gonna go and find Jace's truck and then I'll just wait on him."
Rylee looked a little wary, "Do you want me to come with you?"
I smiled again, " It's fine. I've got your number now, and Derek's. So if I need anything, I'll text you."
I walked away and felt Alec watching me. I also thought someone else was looking at me, so I whipped around. I couldn't point out who it was exactly, so I kept walking out of the clearing to Jace's truck. It was cold outside, but because werewolves were naturally hot it didn't effect me. Jace's truck was unlocked, so I opened the door and was about to jump in when a twig snapping made me stop. I looked around but no one was there, and I was about to brush it off as an animal until someone sneezed. I stepped out of the truck, and picked up a rock to throw. When I did, there was silence until someone yelled, "Ow."
"Easy! You didn't have to throw that at me," Alec said walking out from behind another car.
"Oh my god. I'm so sorry," I said covering my mouth with my hands. I just hit the Alpha of my pack, that was not a great way to start being the new girl.
"It's fine. I saw you walking alone, and you don't know many people, so I followed you to make sure you were alright," Alec said walking towards me.
There wasn't a sign of a bruise or anything on his head, and I was glad that werewolves healed fast. I cant believe I hit the Alpha. Jace's parents are gonna kill me! I guess I had a weird expression on my face because Alec looked at me funny.
"What's got you all worked up?" He asked.
"Just thinking about how I hit the Alpha and how Jace's parents are gonna kill me for it," I said in almost one breath and I had to breathe in deeply to get the oxygen back into my lungs.
"Calm down Addie. It's fine. I'm not gonna tell anybody," Alec replied laughing a little.
Great, now Alec thinks me being embarrassed is funny. He is really cute...why did I have to hit him with a rock!? I opened the truck door and slid in the seat, and Alec came over and leaned on the side of the door.
"So, tell me about yourself."
"Um...there's nothing to tell really. I've been in a foster home most of my life," I said looking at him.
"I'm sorry about that. But, Jace's parents are really good people. You'll like it here," Alec replied smiling.
"So tell me about you. Can I get to know my Alpha?" I asked.
Alec smiled that gorgeous smile of his, "I'm not really open to people anymore, but I'm sure I could tell you something interesting. I've grown up in a pack family all of my life. I had friends inside the pack. Brian was our Alpha at the time, and he never spoke about his family much. I knew Beck pretty well. He had been in the pack for a while, and so were Shane and Derek."
I could tell he was getting ready to talk about 'her' so I spoke up, "If you don't want to talk about her it's fine. You don't have to tell me."
"No, I need to talk to someone about it. It's been an eternity since I've really talked about it," Alec went silent but then he spoke again. "Beck would always talk about her and his friends. Lia, Rylee, and Chase. Lia mostly though. He really liked her and wanted to tell her about himself. He hated lying to her since they had always been friends. I never got the chance to meet her over the years. I was fascinated, by the way he would talk about her. But he couldn't have brought her into this at the time. That was before Brian told us she was going to join the pack. Once he talked to Beck about it, he was so excited. For weeks all he could talk about was how he knew they were mates. Then I got to meet her. She was the most gorgeous girl I had ever seen. Over time, we became best friends. It was Rylee, Derek, Beck, and I. Beck seemed to notice something was going on one day, so he talked to me about it. He told me to stay away from Lia; that she was his. But by then I was in love. I could tell Beck loved her, but somehow it didn't feel right to me. On the day she shifted, it was like all my prayers had been answered. She was mine. I didn't understand it at first; why she was showing signs of being Beck's, but then being mine. But I didn't care. She was the love of my life. We were only together for a little while, but it seemed like forever.
