Part 14:

Emma's POV:

I woke up in Brian's bed overwhelmed with his wonderful scent and a feeling of happiness. Brian had forgiven me. I was still his Emmy bear. I figured he wouldn't pick me up until 11:30 since we had to be at rehearsal at 12, so I decided to shower. I took my time, considering I had a few hours. After my shower, I wrapped a small towel around my body and went to the kitchen for some water. I walked in, completely in my own world, and didn't notice anyone else in the room until they cleared their throat. I jumped in surprise and turned around quickly, expecting to fight off my attacker. I sighed in relief as I saw it was just Brian.

"Brian Daniel Holden! You almost gave me a heart attack!"

He chuckled. "Sorry Em! I just came early to see if you wanted breakfast and I thought maybe...we could..." He seemed a little distracted this morning. I didn't know why until I remembered that I was standing there in only a towel, dripping wet. I blushed and tried to cover myself better as Brian just watched, a look of longing gracing his handsome features.

"So, uh...breakfast! Sounds good! I'll just go, uh...get ready..." I stammered, backing out of the room. When I got to the door I turned back around.

"Bri? Could I...you know....borrow some clothes or something?"

He grinned. "Sure. Take whatever you need."

I kept smiling as I pulled one of Brian's favorite sweatshirts on over my leggings and gray Vans. I ran a hand through my hair and applied some of my watermelon chapstick before grabbing my purse and heading to meet Brian. He smiled at my appearance before kissing my cheek and grabbing my hand, leading me out the door and down to his car.

We pulled into the parking lot of IHOP. Freakin IHOP. Did I ever mention how much I like this boy? We sat down and Brian ordered me chocolate chip pancakes and a Sprite. Okay. The perfect boy award goes to Brian. We talked for a while as we ate, covering almost every topic imaginable. Well maybe not every topic. There was still one that hadn't popped up yet, and we both knew it would need to at some point. Apparently, that time was now.

      "Look, Em..."

"Look, Bri..." we began at the same time. We laughed in spite of ourselves.

"You go first." he said, taking a sip of his coffee. I took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry Bri. I'm sorry I hurt you so much and I'm sorry that I had no idea how much I hurt you. Heck, at this point, I'm sorry I even dated Darren! All I know is, I do love you. Even as much as you love me. I love you and I know you feel that spark when we're together, Bri, 'cause it's pretty damn impossible to miss." I sighed. "I just wish we could go back and change everything, make it work out so we didn't have to go so long without each other."

He grabbed my hand from on top of the table and brought it to him, kissing it lovingly before holding it between his own. He let go before speaking.

"I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have reacted like that when you dated Darren, and I shouldn't have acted like that last night. I've always loved you, Emmy." He paused and looked at me, his eyes shining. "Maybe we could just start over and be friends again, like my senior year."

I smirked as I wound my ankle around his underneath the table and ran my hand over his knee.

      "Just friends, Bri?"

He smirked at me. "Well, maybe with some added benefits."

He got up from the table and grabbed my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine as we walked back to his car.
