Okay, you lot, here's your double-dose of ILYL. Hope you love it, and please, please don't kill me for what's coming in the chapter after next!!!
Since nobody commented on the last chapter, I'm assuming the contest is a no go, which is totally fine!!! Promise. Still, if you do want to participate, please go comment now.
Also, on the comments:
Loads of you comment just with an "UPDATE!!!!" I'm not complaining, really I'm not. But try to put something you liked/didn't like about the chapter in there, too, like I know many of you already do.
I think that's it, so love you all, and enjoy the next two chapters,
Lily
Scorpius's POV:
It had only been two days. But I already wished the foreign students were gone.
Especially the American ones.
Especially Alex.
Lily and I were halfway through our project, at the part where most effort had to be used, and we needed to meet most often. But Lily was quiet and wistful at the meetings, and when I'd mentioned in passing on the first day that I wasn't sure what I would smell when we made the potion, and did she know, she had blushed and muttered something about detergent.
"That makes no sense, you know," I told her.
She frowned. "It wasn't supposed to. I expect you'll smell skunk, or roses."
"How do you know what you'll smell?"
She blushed again and refused to answer.
The really annoying thing was that there was virtually nothing bad about Alex, so I had no right to hate him. His dusty reddish-brown hair was always perfect, his clothes never messy, and he was always saying something sweet and kind to Lily. It was obvious he fancied her, and it was obvious- I didn't like it, but it WAS obvious- that she fancied him as well, though both were too shy to say so. He'd been charming all the teachers, and not because he was trying. They naturally liked him. I was furious.
I was currently in my dorm. I was writing to my dad, not that he would read the letter or write back. I was alone- or at least I was, until Al walked in, banging the door behind him and grinning like a loon.
"What's got you so happy?" I asked, feeling slightly envious.
"Faith," he replied. "She said I looked nice in my new robes."
I groaned. "You, too?"
"She's the most beautiful girl in the world," he said happily, gazing off into the distance and completely ignoring my snort.
"I hate the Americans," I snarled.
He turned, surprised. "Why?" Then he realized. "Oh. Lily and Alex."
"Yes, Lily and Alex," I snapped. "The prat can't keep his eyes off her."
"She's not yours, you know. She never was." Al grabbed a comb and started yanking it through his hair.
"I want her to be." I was too annoyed to try to deny how I felt about Al's little sister.
"Look, Alex is good for her-"
"You don't mean they're together?" I yelped.
"It's going to happen soon." Al looked at me pityingly and shook his head before turning to grab his pyjamas. "Mate, you are dead gone on her, aren't you?"
I found myself wishing I hadn't erased that memory. If she remembered that I loved her...
But she was happier not knowing.
"Look," Al told me, "I know you're upset, and all, but I don't want this to be dramatic for Lils. I like Alex- he's nice and considerate, and probably the only boy alive that James wouldn't hex into oblivion for wanting to date Lily. Just don't- don't mess this up for her, alright?"
I sighed, feeling that there was no way I would have any chance at getting her if she started dating Alex. But I finally nodded.
"Okay."
*******
The next day was the day everyone who wanted to participate in the Tournament put their names in the goblet of fire. Obviously, all the Marauders put their names in. Lily went with Faith- they had become quite the duo, and had already agreed that they would help each other if either- or both- got into the Tournament.
I went with them. I wanted to spend time with Lily. And Alex went, too, to my great chagrin.
Rose put her name in only after extensive begging and cajoling from Lily. And Al put his in during lunch break.
We were to find out who got in tonight.
