Scorpius's POV:
Lily and Alex began dating that week. And every time I saw them together I wanted to vomit!
I loved her! Wasn't it obvious? And although I had been a prat the night she became a Champion, I hadn't meant to call her by her surname! I hadn't meant to tell her to shut up!
Of course, she wouldn't listen to my apologies. She wouldn't look my way in class, and she wouldn't even speak to me for our Potions project.
She did the rest of it herself behind my back, and when I tried to complain to Slughorn about it, he only nodded and winked merrily at Lily, who was very studiously paying attention to her Potions textbook. "It would seem we have an overachiever here! But next time, Lily, let this young man help."
"Yes, Professor," Lily said demurely, not looking up.
She changed all her seats so she sat next to Alex in classes, and they were usually holding hands or smiling and whispering to each other- something mentally disgusting like that.
And the worst thing was that none of my friends seemed to take my side! Albus was continually reminding me not to ruin this for his sister, and Rose laughed whenever I complained and told me I was making "too much of a fuss" about it.
"That's what I said to you when you got paired with Jake," I grumbled.
She slapped me. "That's different."
Then she got up and skipped over to join Lily and Faith in a discussion on elf rights.
The truth was, I missed Lily. I missed her laughs, her teasing, her smiles, her conversation... everything. And because of my promise to Al, I couldn't tell her so.
