"Oye, school kids." Alex grabbed my hand and started walking faster. I heard the footsteps behind us getting faster and faster almost like they were running. Double great.

Alex and I looked at each other in worry. "Run." I whispered. Alex held my hand tighter then before and we ran as there's no tomorrow. Alex and I were about to turn to the left of the road near the house when one of the men grabbed Alex from his coller and dragged him against one of the house wall. But none of them grabbed me. The man who caught Alex had a knife against Alex's throat.

"Give me all your belongings to me and I'll let your friend free." What do I do now?

I stepped closer to Alex but the man holding Alex stepped back.

"I said to give all your belongings!" One of the men shouted.

Think Skylar think! What can I do to help Alex? I took my off my bag from my shoulder and unzipped my bag. I took out my phone, money and peppermint spray. I quickly hid the peppermint spray in my sleeve of my blazer so that the men don't see it. I put my bag back on the pavement. I could see Alex giving me a 'don't come near' look and I could also see the men smiling at each other.

"Here is a deal." I said trying to be confident.

"What?" The man asked who was holding Alex.

"If you let go of Alex first and I'll give the belongings to one of your mates." I looked at the other two men.

"And how would we know that you won't escape?" He questioned.

"Well how would I escape? Your men would easily catch me if I do try escaping." I answered back. I could see Alex giving me a confused look.

"Deal." He replied.

I walked near the men while the man holding Alex let go of him. Alex walked near me as I approach the men.

I whispered to Alex. "Can you please grab my bag for me and get ready to run when I say so." He smirked at me as he walked to my bag and picked it up. I had my peppermint spray ready as I approached them. I looked back to see Alex waiting for my next move.

You can do it Skylar.

In my left hand I placed my belongings. I saw the men concentrating on my left hand to see what belongings I had. I see them turning angry as they saw I just had a Nokia phone and ten pounds on me. Well, what do you except from a school girl who is poor, I wasn't going to have gold or anything expensive in a school bag for sure.

Before they can grab my wrist of my left hand I took the peppermint spray out from my right hand sleeve and sprayed the peppermint spray on three of the men faces.

I screamed, "RUN!" I started to run as Alex waited for me with a hand out for me to hold. I grabbed his hand and we ran off as fast as we can. We could hear the men running after us but we knew none of them could catch us, because we were way ahead of them. We reached the house gate and pressed the button to let the security guard open the gate for us.

The security wasn't opening the gate, so we pressed the button three more times. We saw the men coming closer and closer. Great, if only the guard could just open the door. I looked at Alex and saw him worried. It was too late, the men were going to catch us any second, we are sooooooooo doomed. Alex pressed the button again and screamed. "OPEN THE DOOR!!!"

Finally the gate opened on time and we ran in and closed the gate behind us. We went to the front door and Alex opened the door with his house keys and saw no one was at home. Chris went to his office and grandma and Lauren were with Abigail at her extra class. Then I realised Alex and I were still holding hands.
